DXi is rugged enough and reliable enough that it can go just about anywhere, including on water. Not only will DXi play loud enough to overcome a boat engine and other sounds on the water, every DXi loudspeaker will perform reliably. That's because they're Marine Certified to stand up to harsh aquatic environments.



Every DXi Speaker Comes With A Boatload Of Reliability

Every DXi series loudspeaker is designed not only to withstand the demands of a car's sun-baked climate, but corrosive marine environments, too. That meant subjecting every DXi speaker to ASTM (American Society for Testing and materials) scrutiny to ensure they were as at home on the water as they're on the street. Even DXi's optional white grilles, developed specifically for marine installs, have been tested and marine certified.

The DXi Series was subjected to a series of grueling accelerated weathering tests to see if they could stand up to a harsh marine environment. We subjected them to hundreds of hours of salt fog, intense ultra violet light and temperatures ranging from minus 40° C (-40° F) to +85° C (+185° F), and DXi passed with flying colors. Proof that Marine Certified DXi loudspeakers with superior materials and excellent engineering will always rock on water.


  • Extreme Temp Test: cycles from -40°F to 185°F at 50% humidity for 48 hours.
  • Extreme Temp Test at High Humidity: cycles from -40°F to 185°F at 95% humidity for 24 hours.
  • Extreme Humidity Test: 140°F at 95% humidity for 54 hours.
  • UV/Salt-Fog Materials Test, based on military specifications for "ASTM D5894" and "Mil-Std 883" tests: alternates one week of UV and one week of salt fog exposure, for six weeks (1008 hours total).
  • UV/Salt-Fog Whole Speaker Test (based on military standard "Mil-Std 883 Method 1009 8" test): UV and salt fog exposure, 24 hours.

The look is about more than performance. It's about making every detail count, from the wiring harness under the hood to the fit and finish of your loudspeaker installs. Even before you fire them up, the DXi Series delivers with its clean lines and contemporary styling.

This Is Where DXi's Incredible Sound Comes From

High Efficiency Design means less amplifier power is needed for more audio output. Meaning better sound and more volume using less power. The bottom line is DXi loudspeakers will definitely blow you and your friends away, whether they're driven by aftermarket head units or factory installed electronics.   • Dynamic Balance® Driver Technology-All DXi Series drivers, tweeters and subwoofers use our Dynamic Balance technology, which we developed in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins University. We needed a better way to analyze a speaker's microscopic behavior to optimize the system's performance. We used a laser interferometer, which gave our engineers a view of the entire vibrating surface of a driver or tweeter. They could observe the resonance which develops on speaker cones as they move. This resonance is at the root of frequency response distortions. With Dynamic Balance, which is a whole process for creating the ideal combination of materials, geometry and construction techniques, we tune out these unwanted distortions and dial in your music.
  • Klippel Optimized Components for a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move in exactly the same distance and manner in both directions of travel. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, let us optimize the motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension to yield the best possible performance. DXi Coaxials & 3-Ways. Because Sometimes Space Is Tight

Hey, maybe a full-blown component system and a DXi sub enclosure in a SmartCar® isn't all that practical, but some DXi coaxials will fill the bill quite nicely, thank you. The DXi Series includes: a 3 1/2" diameter coaxial, a 4"x6" plate-style speaker and a 6 1/2" coaxial that can drop into a variety of applications in nothing flat.

DXi Series Component Systems

You've fine-tuned your car, now fine-tune your car's audio with a DXi component system. Components give you the ability to create incredible sound despite the limits of a car's acoustic environment. That's when you want the DXi6500 6 1/2" component system. It will definitely add the extra adrenaline and great style.

  • Dynamic Balance® polymer/mica composite cones are stiff yet lightweight for big sound, low distortion.
  • A 1" liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeter gives component systems clear, detailed highs.
  • Low-mass 2-layer Kapton voice coil-Kapton's high melting temperature (725°F/400°C) ensures high power handling and kick-butt reliability.
  • Pole plate heat sink promotes better heat dissipation for superior power handling and reliability.
  • Component models use a 2nd-order Butterworth outboard crossover for component system sound-at a coaxial price. The crossovers also feature an electronic tweeter protection circuit so your tweeters deliver reliable high output sound from any source.
  • Component models have a vented crossover housing and hidden wire channels for an easier, more professional looking install.
