STRENGTHS:
Very Clear and Sharp.

WEAKNESSES:
Could have better bass, but not much you can do with the 5 1/4.

REVIEW:
I just put these speakers in my 06 Jeep Wrangler, and they sound even better than in the store. They seem to get better and better every time you turn them on. Highly recommended for the price!! Best Bang for your buck!!

   ZaCh (October 24th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
really good clarity

WEAKNESSES:
could have more bass, but what do you expect for a 5.25" speaker

REVIEW:
good highs,good lows

   Martin (September 22nd, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Amazingly clear highs, and the best bass I have ever heard from a five and a quarter inch.

WEAKNESSES:
More deep than others, middle sounds can be covered up by the lows or highs if cd player is not set up right.

REVIEW:
These are some amazing speakers. I wanted to upgrade some Sony's in my Jeep Cherokee when I purchased my new Pioneer CD player. The sound was something I have never heard before. Even friends who have a custom system and expensive components compliment the sound I have. The highs are amazing and so clear. There is more bass from this speaker than any other 5 1/4 I have ever heard, and its clear bass too! Though if you have a sub, and turn down the bass to the 525's, it becomes audio Like I mentioned above, it improves the sound to play around with the EQ settings on a cd player, and though the volume was impressive, I expected a bit more. But overall, 4 and a half stars, amazing upgrade for the price, and I can not recoment polk audio enough.

STRENGTHS:
Looks great, very clear highs and nice accurate bass for the size. Very well constructed.

WEAKNESSES:
None that I have seen as of yet.

REVIEW:
Excellent spaekers. Paired with the db6500's in my dadge ram standard cab and 101 watts going to each pair, they sound awesome. Easily the best in music clarity and response I have ever had(and I've had some good names i.e. rockford fosgate, kenwood, alpine.). Not to mention they look great in my kick panels with the cool grilles. I have to say that as the years keep passing polk audio keeps stepping up there game in the car audio industry. I just got on here and saw that they have the sr series suns on the market know. I would love to hear those perform because they look like they are some great subs. I would definitely like to get my hands on a pair of those.

STRENGTHS:
Fantastic sound for this speaker size. Crisp highs and good solid bass response for a 5.25".

WEAKNESSES:
Minor con is 5/16" deeper than most speakers of this size.

REVIEW:
The short summary is, these speakers are the ones you want to buy if you are simply trying to replace crappy OEM speakers without adding amplifiers. Especially for a Cherokee.

I installed four of these in my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. I know a previous reviewer said they were too deep for the rear of his 1996, but they fit just fine in the stock rear sound bar of my 1998. The sound is amazing given that they are still being driven by the stock stereo.

A little history. My first purchase was 4 Alpine SPS-130A 5.25" speakers. I was VERY disappointed when I installed these and did a left to right balance from a new speaker to the water damaged paper cone stock speaker. The Alpine speaker had very nearly zero bass response. Now I don't expect much bass from a 5.25" speaker, but I would expect to hear more or at least the same as the crappy OEM Oxford speaker. Not so, the OEM speaker had decent sounding bass response, while the Alpines had none. It was pretty ridiculous, so I incurred the expense to return them... shipping costs both ways plus 12% restocking fee.

I had read some good things about these db525's so I ordered a pair for the front only (because of the previous review stating they wouldn't fit the rear). I used these to prove that I could fit them in the back and then installed them in the front. WOW... 100 times the sound, especially bass response, of the Alpines. Similar bass, if not slightly better, than the OEM speakers. But the highs were much crisper and clearer than the OEM speakers. Good deal, and off I went to order 2 more for the rear sound bar.

Now with all 4 speakers Polkized... the stock system sounds pretty damn good. And if I ever do get a more powerful deck installed, I'm positive they will sound even better. I highly recommend these.

STRENGTHS:
Clean sharp sound for a good price.

WEAKNESSES:
Woofer runs into tweeter mount causing rattle.

REVIEW:
Good looking, nice price, and the sound well...its great too. I modified these to fit in the center console of my 88 Civic, which is all polk and is the best sounding 88 Civic out there, and these speakers are part of the reason.

   iluvmud (November 17th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
good sound, good price

WEAKNESSES:
not enough highs

REVIEW:
not bad i wasnt expecting much from these but they actually sound better than i had hoped. still missing the crisp highs polks know for.

   mbc (July 26th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
everything.

WEAKNESSES:
nothing.

REVIEW:
I just put two of these 5 1/4 babys in my s10 and bridged the channels from my head unit so each speaker is getting 44 watts rms.........i have never heard i better speaker in my entire life.........when you close your eyes it feels like your at a concert......these speakers deserve 10 stars

   James Bly (May 29th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Pros: Great clarity and the sound is what you would execpt from polk(The best)

WEAKNESSES:

Cons: I guess the only con would be you need a 4 channel amp well thats how it is for any upgrade from your stock unit because there 45 watts rms per speaker which will distort with just a head unit.

REVIEW:

Well at first when i had my factory head unit and didn't know anything about speakers execpt that i had blown door speakers. I went looking for new speakers and my dad told me to get polk because he never stops talking about how top of the line his home speakers are and how they put all other brands to shame far as clarity. Well i took his advice and i got these for my car and at first they were distorting because i had a factory head unit. So i went out and got the CDA9827 alpine and they sounded 10x better but still distorted at volume 20. So i went and did some research and i thought it was 45 watts rms for the total but its per speaker and my hu was only putting out 18 watts rms x4 channel(per speaker) and thats where my problem was. Even though im still really underpowering them it i can't believe how good they sound and i can't wait to buy a 4 channel amp to really see what these speakers are made of. All in all 5 out 5 stars thanks polk for making a great speaker at a cheap price.....

   bbs (May 11th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Incredible sound, excellent response, etc.

WEAKNESSES:
Too deep (physical size, NOT sound quality) for some applications.

REVIEW:
I just installed these speakers in the front of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Unfortunately, they are too deep to fit in the rear sound-bar, so I used a slimmer Pioneer speaker in the rear. Both sets had similar specs, but there is a HUGE difference betweent the two. The Db525s are among the best car speakers I have ever heard, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend these

   sam england (January 16th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:

WEAKNESSES:
have not found one yet

REVIEW:
