STRENGTHS:
Pin point imaging, human voices spot on!

WEAKNESSES:
If you can find one, let me know!

REVIEW:
When you are tired of just plain loud, this is the next logical step toward audio nirvana. Finally, after thirty years in the pursuit of the perfect system, along came the SR series of components. I realized one day recentely that I had fallen into the habit of assuming that the 6.5" component speakers HAD to sound better because they were bigger. I remembered a system I had some twenty years ago that absolutely nailed the human voice. The soundstage and imaging was astounding, and I realized that I had used a pair of Vifa doped paper midwoofers for the front speakers. Now don't get me wrong, the Momo 6500's I had been using in my current system sounded very, very good. I just didn't have the detail I am used to in my home system. So the search began for the perfect set of component speakers to finally finish the perfect system. I listened to every set of components over the $500.00 price point. All the way to the $3600.00 Focal and Dynaudio systems. I already had a pair of SR-104 subs in the system, but couldn't find anyone in the Dallas area that carried the SR components. I finally looked at the Polk Direct Ebay sight on night and there they were...SR-5250's! I couldn't resist. When they arrived, I was stunned at the quality of the drivers and crossovers,(the crossovers look like they probably cost more that the selling price just to build)not to mention the installation components to allow for placement just about anywhere you would like. I installed them the next day and immediately heard an amazing improvement. After about thirty hours of break in, these speakers will make the hair on your arms stand straight up! The ring radiator tweeters are the answer to anyone facing the problem of having the mids and tweeters placed too far apart in the factory locations. The tweeters are crossed over low enough to get most of the voices up and away from the floor. And therein is the answer. Now I have EXACTLY the sound I have been working toward forever. These 5.25" drivers go just as low as my old 6.5" Momo's, just much cleaner. Don't be fooled by the motor structure of these speakers, they are of the highest quality materials I have ever seen. Even better than the Morel's!
If you want to get off the high end merry-go-round, and finally be able to just turn it on and enjoy music, these are the speakers for you. Buy them on faith, buy them with reservations, just buy them before it's too late! You will never regret it. Hell, you might even save some money in the process!

STRENGTHS:
The high frequencies are amazing- outstanding detail. These tweeters sound great with every type of music I've thrown at them. They can be set up to sound very neutral to quite bright with the crossovers, and will integrate in a wide variety of systems and appeal to many listening tastes. The SR speakers are a "must hear" if you are shopping around.

WEAKNESSES:
On the pricey side (but worth it). If the SR6500 set will fit in your car, buy those instead because the midbass response is far better than these 5 1/4" speakers. If you don't have the room for the larger component set, you can't go wrong with the SR5250. They do not distort with lower midbass frequencies, but cannot produce the same output in that range as the larger component set. I would have given these a fifth star if I'd never heard the SR6500s as a benchmark.

REVIEW:
Beautiful sounding set of components. Smooth response across the spectrum and very detailed. The build quality seems excellent and they should last a long time. Polk Signature Reference is a great choice for a high-end SQ install in your car, so if you buy these take the time to install them right. Overall, I'm very satisfied with these speakers and can't wait to hear the SR line of subs.

STRENGTHS:
The midbass of the 5250's is phenominal! I also have it set up as a 3 way with the 6500 woofers in the doors and truthfully dont think I need them!

WEAKNESSES:
NONE!!! did I mention that the Midbass is crazy? and the tweeters are insanely smooth!??

REVIEW:
Well what can I say, I have had another "Q"uality brand of speakers in my car for 6 years and was a little hesitant to think there could be an improvement. All I have to say is HOLY F**K!! out of the box these things blow away my previous speakers! I am told that after about 40 hours of break in they will sound even better, what can I say, the asking price is way lower than what I previously had and the sound is no where near the same, save you cash and buy the POLK SR's!
The boys at Polk have cranked one out of the park this time!
