STRENGTHS:
great quality sound and build

WEAKNESSES:
none

REVIEW:
had a pair of these and the db460's in my 96 impala ss. great sound quality. unfortunately had to get rid of the car but still have the speakers. they don't fit in my new civic hybrid, so i was thinking of using them as home theater speakers. so the question is what type of box would be recommended to put the four speakers i have in? and any other things i should take into consideration? thanks

   Chris (March 12th, 2008)

STRENGTHS:
full range sound with almost no power!!

WEAKNESSES:
LMAO! thats funny!...
weaknesses hahaha

REVIEW:
i have a set of db690 with a set of db650 in my 06' cobalt and i had a basslink-II sub the amp on the sub went out not sure when because the polks were puting out such a clean sound i didnt know! mind you im only runing 22watts rms 50max off my pioneer and thats all you need
ill never buy from another brand polk all the way lol

   TJ (March 5th, 2008)

STRENGTHS:
Nice punch with an amp. They make my truck cab sound abosolutely amazing when you put on some old school AC/DC or just about any kind of music. Good job Polk.

WEAKNESSES:
None. I have the maximum of watts flowing through for about 9 months now and no problems.

REVIEW:
I bought these to replace the 4x10s in my 1987 Chevy Silverado. Of course they were going to be better. But i do have to say my brother has some Infinitys and these sound way better. Good job on the speakers i will buy Polk for all my audio needs from now on.
2 amps-TMA audio
Sub- Kicker shallow mount 10
Rear speakers-Polk db690
Front Speakers-Infinity 3 1/2

   Dustin (September 8th, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
The sound amazing and have really nice bass!

WEAKNESSES:
The only weakness i can think of is that i need an amp to get full power out of these kick ass speakers!

REVIEW:
I highly suggest these speakers!

   Bruce (April 23rd, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
The sub feel without compromising needed space.

WEAKNESSES:
None on your part. I need more cars for more speakers!

REVIEW:
This is the second pair of db690's I have installed in my vehicles and both are perfect. For a jazz lover like me, they deliver all the highs and mids. It almost feels like being there at a concert (speaking from experience). When I have others riding with me with a different taste in music, the db690's also deliver the lows better than any others I've tried.

The ride: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
Head unit: Kenwood KDC-X769
Front: Polk db6750
Rear: Polk db690
Amp: Kenwood KAC-6402
Subs: Not necessary. The db690's are enough!

   Martin Gary (February 18th, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
Very smooth highs. Not harsh at all. Clean and clear.

WEAKNESSES:
None

REVIEW:
I installed these speakers in my Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab today. They sound fantastic. Great highs (very smooth). Nice mids, although I did have to boost the mids a little. Very punchy bass. They sound like home speakers. I'm very pleased with them. Thanks, Polk for a very nice set of speakers!
These speakers are in the front doors, rear doors have db650's Head unit is a Sony GT510. Outstanding combination.

   Max Gu (January 31st, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
Clarity with enough bass to satisfy you.

WEAKNESSES:
None except that it was almost double the size of my stock speakers. So fitment might be an issue for people with smaller cars.

REVIEW:
Great speakers! I got them as a gift and they are excellent. Althought my 1998 Honda Prelude had a superior system already these speakers made a great improvement to my front DB650.

   Steve (January 20th, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
Amazing all around sound performance. Can be driven hard with no distortion.

WEAKNESSES:
I have been driving these things for about 8 months now with no flaws.

REVIEW:
Crushing. These speakers are very impressive. I replaced some stock oem speakers in my Honda Civic with these and the sound is just amazing. I am running another brand of component speakers in the front, these in the rear, and a 10" sub in the trunk and no joke, I can turn the sub off and with no amp, just my deck driving these, there is enough bass to satisfy almost anyone. The mids are amazing and the highs equally as nice.

   Vernon (January 8th, 2007)

STRENGTHS:
Crystal clear sound for the money and best I heard in a car

WEAKNESSES:
Could you about inch of bass but other wise there perfect

REVIEW:
Very good speakers with subwoofer hook up. Abc warehouse has the best deals for polk 6x9's and 4x6's. I got these all in my interior of 01 grand am gt and my subs are 2 12inch p1 rockford subs with rockford amp

   Chuck (December 27th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
great price! great sound! perfect with my subs and tweeters!

WEAKNESSES:
none that i can find!

REVIEW:
i got these for a competition car. a 1990 Buick with Rockford subs, and all polk interior speakers! these are a perfect fit to match the highs, lows and mids! great buy!

   Boatman (November 17th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
strong and clear mids/highs, durable, nice bass/midbass response for a 6x9

WEAKNESSES:
none found yet--could have grill and speaker mount seperate like the db650's i have

REVIEW:
installed these in my 20' boat along with the db650's around may '06. LOVE THEM BOTH so far. These 6x9's are in somewhat of an enclosure(mounted on the side panels of the boat so panel and hull act together as a box :~) and they have pretty good bass response from just the head unit(50x4 max). They have now endured a summers worth of heat, humidity, water, salt and cleanings and they are still going strong. Will be adding an amp this winter (california profile AP400/ RMS=65x2 @ 4ohm or 130x2 @ 2) so can't wait to see how they perform/sound next spring/summer. Haven't decided if i'll amp all 4 or just the 6x9's but so far VERY happy with both sets. essentially same review will be posted for db650

   Matias (October 4th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Best speakers ive heard yet! Awsome quality in music from rock to rap

WEAKNESSES:
i realized i needed an amp, but thats not so bad, right?

REVIEW:
I made a custom rear box with each speaker in its own 6x9 box. along with the amp and the boxes, i turn it up as loud as i want and they outperform anything ive heard. highly recommended to get them in their own sealed enclosure and you will have a lot more fullness in all types of music

   Matt (September 23rd, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Audio Definition

WEAKNESSES:
None

REVIEW:
Car: 2003 Nissan Altima S 2.5
Head Unit: Panasonic CQ-C7401U
Amp: MTX 250 Watt (Generic)
Sub: Boston Acoustics G1
Front: Polk db5250
Rear: Polk db690

I replaced my rear speakers today with the Polk db690's and WOW, what a difference. Tool's "The Pot" actually came alive. The "missing" frequencies were now present. These speakers rock and are worth ever penny.

   Big Al (September 9th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Thunderous lows, beautiful mids, and window-shattering highs, all crystal clear.

WEAKNESSES:
Haha, weaknesses? You're kidding, right?

REVIEW:
I finally go these little guys after waiting far too long. Installation was a little tricky due to the wierd holes and grilles in the back deck of my Mitsubishi. I'm sad I couldn't use the sweet included grilles, but these are still the sharpest looking and sounding speakers I've heard. Thanks to Polk I now have the finest pair of noisemakers money can buy in my car.

   Brandon (July 19th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Great sound...nice mids and highs......clean crisp clear sound even when turned up loudly.

WEAKNESSES:
Could be a bit bassier :-)

REVIEW:
I just bought a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup that had been babied. But the sound system was LOUSY! Factory, and the previous owner stuck less than factory (if you can believe that) in the speaker wholes when he traded it. I went in search of speakers and lo and behold I found these Polk speakers at C.C. Now I'm not an audiophil, per se, but these sound tremendous! I'm 35 years old and past the "lets impress people with music stage" but I had to turn these up and everyone looked in amazemement even without an amp....ran right off a brand new sony xplod cd system. I'm adding a sub in the ext cab area to fill in for the lack of bass in some music. I play them moderately most of the time, and I think things last longer when not pushed too hard. Just because they can handle it, doesn't mean do it all the time. These speaks are awesome and I will never settle for another factory system thanks to Polk :-)

Paul Nelson, Jr. (July 2nd, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Good range, clear, and loud.

WEAKNESSES:
I couldn't find one.

REVIEW:
For the price, I couldn't complain. Good clean highs and they have a decent bottom end as well. Perfect upgrade for the car.

   Robert Gnage (June 20th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
Great sound. Awsome Highs and Mids and good bass response.

WEAKNESSES:
These were not an exact fit for my honda prelude and i could only get 3 out of 4 screws in to hold them down. However, it was well worth it. Not the best bass response at low watttage (but probably expected).

REVIEW:
These speakers have outstanding sound quality. When i replaced the factory 6 x 9s in my 99 Honda Prelude it was an amazing difference. I only have them running off my aftermarket head unit (22 watts RMS per channel) and they sound awsome. I think that if you hook them up to an amp you may get better bass response. However, I have two 10 inch Kicker subs so I don't think I need it.

   Keith (June 15th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
I like the design, woofer is free from tweet and mid no visible wire like the old stuff.

WEAKNESSES:
ummm, truthfully cant think of a weakness.

REVIEW:
I cant resist, whoever posted these have no bass? Get a real amp! sheesh!! I ran 2 db650's and 2 db690's on a stock 55 watt peak per channel cd reciever and couldnt take it anymore , 55 peak is weak. I purchased a 100 watt rms amp WOW!! Polk rocks or jazz's : ). Ive always trusted polk speakers and have not been disappointed yet.Running just the 6x9's i had more than enough volume that i could stand. id have to stand out of the vehicle to turn it up any louder, and the sound is clear and enjoyable.

   Danny (March 29th, 2006)

REVIEW:
Great sound good lows mids and highs

   Dan (January 4th, 2006)

STRENGTHS:
The Speakers!

WEAKNESSES:
None

REVIEW:
I have had these speakers in my Town Car for almost a year and a half, in my opinion, you CANNOT GET BETTER SPEAKERS, after all, they are Polk Audio! I love them, and every one that rides in my car compliments them.

   Mike (December 15th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
These things rock

WEAKNESSES:
No weaknesses found yet

REVIEW:
These speakers kick ass

   Tim Buich (October 26th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
they play hella loud and have the best highs and mids. good bass, but theyre best for rock, gotta have an amp, four of these, or subs for rap

WEAKNESSES:
ok low, they haev pretty good bass but ya need all in all u need subs for that

REVIEW:
These speakers are pretty sick. They play aewesome at high and at mid, low is pretty good but if ur guna listen to loud rap with a lot of bass, you need four of these bad boys with some subs. if u play it i lil too loud on rap its sounds like crap. u can play rock as loud as u want aand it sounds good no matter what. im gettin two more speakers for my truck then ill be ballin. i have stock speakers in the front and these in the back. it cranks pretty loud but i want it louder, i blew the speakers in the front like a week after i bought the truck and i had know idea that i had these speaker s in the back of my truck and i was wondering why my truck sounded so damn good(lol). so after i get these two front speakers for my truck ill be set and playin the loudest music in town baby!

   nickoman01 (August 6th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
sound decent when they work

WEAKNESSES:
blow one of them after a few months

REVIEW:
bass sucks, but still better then stock, well until the woofer stopped working. the mid range stop working too. all i had was highs out of one speaker. but to the plus the other speaker hides it well. i wouldn't of known until i went speaker to speaker on my panasonic head unit. will not buy Polk again, I'm buying infinity instead.

   rockin (August 1st, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
Good transient response, clear highs, good imaging.

WEAKNESSES:
None.

REVIEW:
These are very nice speakers. Very crisp clear highs without being harsh, tight mids, and nice tight lows. As far as the lack of bass comments, I guess it depends on the music you listen to. There is pleanty of bass present in these speakers. For anything other then the deep boom, they do a real good job. You have to remember that these are a 6x9 speaker that most of the time float in the rear deck of a car. They are not designed to produce deep rumble.

   Humberto (June 8th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
They sound good.

WEAKNESSES:
Didnt last more than 2 months. Tweeters blew with only 75 clean watts. I know my installs so I know it wasnt my fault that they blew.

REVIEW:
I bought these new for my truck. I installed them and they worked well for about 2 months. After that the only part that worked was the woofer. The 2 tweeters were blown and the suround on the woofer was unglueing itself from the basket. My warrenty was up since I didnt install these right away so Im out a good chunk of change. I will try contacting polk to see if they can do anything about it but I would not guy these again.

   ETEJERR (April 30th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
Superb Highs and Mids!!

WEAKNESSES:
speakers had trouble reproducing lower frequencies.

REVIEW:
These speakers offer excellent highs and mids. With 100 watts RMS standing by, you can really turn up the volume. I have not added the 4 channel amp yet but I am sure they will perform even better. Although they do not like the lower frequencies all that much....they tend to distort a little. If you want the bass add a subwoofer and you will get a perfect all around tone system. They almost got rated a 5 star but lacked the bass response.

   zain najeeb (March 13th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
clear sound with a great beat

WEAKNESSES:

REVIEW:
out standing

   Grayson McCaulley (March 6th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
High, mids, all around.

WEAKNESSES:
None!!!!!!!!!!!!!! neads an amp to get even more of an abundant sound then before.

REVIEW:
My parents baught me these speakers for my dodge neon on Christmas. Let me be the one to say that these speakers rock. My parents definetly knew what they were doing when they bought these speakers. All my freinds love them and so do I. As for the bass, compared to the originall stock speakers, the bass i think is excellent for the size of these speakers.

POLK, YOU DID ONE HELL OF A JOB.THANKS!

Brandon- Db Audio and Electronics (March 1st, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
The Highs and Mids are good. They sound great

WEAKNESSES:
The lows are week but thats a good thing

REVIEW:
I love this speaker but you cant lie, unless you have a set of subs there isnt much bass, but if you have subs thats a great plus because when you turn up the volume they wont distort with the bass and you will still get good quality sound so i give these speakers a 10. They Also Sound Great in my 96' Impala that has the back seat tooken out with my 4 Memphis M3 MoJo's mounted in a fiber glass box with my 4 16-PRD1000.1 Memphis amps also mounted in my custom fiber glass box all driven by my sweet Kenwood KVT-715DVD DVD/CD receiver/monitor. Very Nice Set up has won me 31 SPL/Electronics Trophies.

   Marco (March 1st, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
i'm talkin' bout' 'em as much as i can polk... hope it makes a difference.. i'm not a dealer or installer... but i know a thing or two and you're product's one ov them.

WEAKNESSES:
Chromed out subs that fry like Kickers and Audiobahns... sounds like aluminum cans in a bag... MARKET IT POLK!! .. MARKET IT !! HELP ME OUT!!

REVIEW:
Okay foLks... thanks for the badass speaker all ya'll came out with ... once again... polk.. you've gone and made me a believer... from the DXs...GNXs..now DB... and MOMO.... got 'em all at one point or another... i constantly turn to your products for that high end sound without the high end price... i hope someone hears my 2002 Toyota Camry w/ DB's + Memphis Amps .... as well as my 2005 Nissan Titan with MOMOS + Memphis Amps...cuz they'd be sold.

   Alex (January 14th, 2005)

STRENGTHS:
Hi's and Mid's

WEAKNESSES:
Low's

REVIEW:
These speakers produce great hi's and mid's, but the bass is very weak, even with my new cd player. It's not just weak, it doesn't sound god at all. I also tried to add a kenwood amplifier to feed each channel 60 watts and I got no positive feedback. The bass was the same and yes I had it set up perfect.

They are awesome sounding speakers. I would reccomend adding a subwoofer if you like a little more bass than usual.

   Stan (January 8th, 2005)

WEAKNESSES:
Absolutely NONE

REVIEW:
Excellent Speakers, The best set of speakers that money can by at that price. There is only 1 complaint and that is NONE.

   Dolan (December 26th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Mids and Highs are AWESOME, bass is there when I have the gain all the way down on my subs. Just a superb product!

WEAKNESSES:
As others have stated, there are NONE. And you honestly will feel the same way!

REVIEW:
Well, where to start, My S-10 Blazer came with speakers that I'd be embarrassed to state what they were, lol. So I knew I'd eventually upgrade the rear junkers and stockers in the dash. I was stuck between Kenwood Excelons and these DB 6x9's.
I finally decided on these, and I'm extremely happy I did. I could tell the difference from day 1, yet after installed Infinity Refernece 4" Plates in the dash, I can truely tell the difference in the Polk sound quality. I know I'm comparing 4" speakers to a much larger speaker, yet still, the quality of the Polks is second to none. For the price you can't beat these, and I honestly think you guys at Polk did an awesome job designing a second-to-none speaker for those of us who have a sliiiight "budget constraint".
The crankability is there when I rarely want it, and the mids/highs are just superb. I couldn't ask for a better 6x9" for the price IMO. I know they'd sound even better with a small 4 channel amp, yet I'm so impressed with the sound thus far, I'd be scared to change it!

   Nolan (October 30th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Great sound, great tonal balance, no distortion at high volume, crisp clear highs, smooth accurate mids, solid punchy midbass, and deep warm bass.

WEAKNESSES:
None, these are the best 6x9's in their price range and the 2nd best on the market right now. The only better 6x9's on the market are Polk Audio Momo 6x9's, but they wouldn't fit in my car.

REVIEW:
These are great speakers. They sound great at any volume(even full volume) and don't compromise the sound quality or tonal balance. If you're buying 6x9's then you should buy Polk Audio, get the Momo's if they'll fit, but if not, then the db's should be your next choice. I'm running them with my Eclipse head-unit and I don't even need an external amplifier to get the results I want. Maybe in the future I'll amp them up, but why spend the money when they sound great right now? I've heard other speakers, and owned other speakers(Alpine, Infinity, Pioneer), and none of them can beat Polk Audio. Polk rules.

   James (May 26th, 2004)

REVIEW:
Someone stole my stereo and I went to get another one and got a nice pioneer replacement. Well my speakers could not handle the sound from the new head unit so I went to get some new speakers. I must say I did not take more than hour from the time I walked in to the time they replace all 4 of my speakers with the polks they are great would recommend them to anyone and I got one set half off.

   Partsrep (April 24th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Excellent mid and high range with deep bass. Solid construction, cool grills I didn't use. Excellent Polk quality.

WEAKNESSES:
In my application.....none

REVIEW:
Excellent replacement speakers. I used these to upgrade from the stock Toyota speakers in a 2004 4Runner with a Scion Xb Pioneer 160w max CDMP3XM head unit. It really picks up the mids and highs that I was missing out on before. And in my 4Runner it almost sounds like I'm running an amp with a sub the bass is so deep. Excellent value for $149.95 at Circuit City. I got the DB650 for the rear for only $50 more.

   Dustin Rittler (April 13th, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
very crisp and clear highs, and decent lows with suffecient power

WEAKNESSES:
absolutely none

REVIEW:
I purchased these bacause i really trust plk when it comes to great sound. I have them in boxes on the second seat of my truck pushed my a RF301s amp at 75w RMS. They sounded even better than i thought, i'm currently in the process of adding to polk 12' MOMO subs to give my system the bass that it needs.

   James (April 1st, 2004)

STRENGTHS:
Great bass with factory cd player. Good clearity

WEAKNESSES:

Good sound quality for the money.

these speakers were great and the reason i say "were" was because mine were stolen out of my car not to long ago. But surely i am getting more and they will be pold auidio. I had every thing in my car my amp, speakers and a stereo but they just took what made my system sound awsome.

STRENGTHS:
Clarity & accuracy, with a ton of bass...
They sound great with my low power OEM head unit.

WEAKNESSES:
None...other than I need an amp!

REVIEW:
Overall, I'm really impressed by these speakers. They are a great value. They exibit excellent detail, calrity, separation, and accuracy; very close to if not about the same as component speakers, but with more bass. These are very punchy and tight. For the money, you can't beat them!

   Colin A. Eliot (December 14th, 2003)

STRENGTHS:
great power handling, nice clear sound without being too bright

WEAKNESSES:
none that I can think of

REVIEW:
I bought these along with the db 650s and I have been very satisfied with my purchase. I initially got the db series because the MOMO 6.5s wouldnt fit in my doors, but I have not been disappointed with them, despite not being the "top end" model. they sound great, especially coupled with the Polk MOMO 400.4 amp. They have great power handling and do not distort at high volumes. I initially pushed them with my head unit and I feel that these speakers really need power to sound good. They sounded a little muffled and muddy until I had 75w RMS going through them. Now they sound great.
