Cascade Tapered Array Crossover
Gives every seat in the house the best sound

When two speaker drivers are placed near each other, destructive interference between the two drivers in the upper-midrange creates frequency response errors (called "comb filtering") and degrades imaging. This also collapses the sound stage and narrows the dispersion capability of the speaker.
To solve this problem, multi driver LSi, RTi towers, Monitor towers, TSi towers and high end CSi models use "Cascade Tapered Array" crossovers. One driver is crossed over much lower in frequency and is in essence a bass-only driver. Only one driver plays the upper midrange frequency range thereby eliminating the interference effects between the two drivers.
You get the best of both worlds - the dynamic impact of multiple drivers with the accuracy and life-like imaging of a single driver system.
