PowerPort® Plus
Ports in speaker cabinets help a loudspeaker provide good bass even without large amounts of amplifier power. But conventional ports have limitations, increasing air turbulence, causing "port noise" and bass output losses up to 3dB, which is a huge waste of amp power.
Polk engineers overcame these limitations long ago, with their patented Power Port bass venting technology.
For the new RTi10 and RTi12 Floorstanding Loudspeakers, Polk engineers went one step further: Power Port Plus. Polk's patented* PowerPort Plus bass venting technology gives the RTi10, RTi12, RTiA7 and RTiA9 increased bass efficiency for truly low down bass thunder.
Power Port Plus works with two ports (front & rear) and a series of internal "plates" to go traditional Power Port one better. PPP further reduces air turbulence at the mouth of the bass port, and increases bass efficiency. PPP allows even lower frequency tuning and lower turbulence for less noise and distortion, and more big musical bass, even at lifelike volume levels.
Like Power Port, this technology provides performance that vastly exceeds any conventionally ported speakers in the same size and price class. It's bass that you truly feel, as well as hear; it's a complete visceral and emotional experience. And you simply can't get better bass than that.
