Best way to transport SDA SRS Big Boys

Thanks everyone for your feedback / insights on my previous thread! If I remember correctly a Driver or the Passive Radiator should be removed prior to transporting to prevent the Drivers from locking up. Any opinions on if that's necessary and if so which ones / how many? Long trip to pick these up. Thanks, Sandy. Leaving tomorrow!

As I stated in your prior thread, the best way is to lay them on their backs with all drivers and passives in place. There will be less momement of the drivers this way, and that momement will be properly controlled.

FWIW, It'd be best to remove each driver and pack them individually.

Removing the drivers is an excellent idea.

I must tell you though, I picked up my 1.2TLs from a guy in Medford Mass which is just north of Boston and drove them all the way back to South Philly. The SUV we had would only allow us to place them on their sides, face-to-face. I kept my hands on them the whole time so they wouldn't move around or bounce too much. I have had no trouble with the magnets shifting or locking up. I guess I'm just lucky.

Oh and BTW, when we moved them from South Philly to Delaware where I live now, we covered them with moving blanket, stood them upright and tied them tightly to the rails inside the rental truck. Still no problems.

on their back with the drivers and passive in place. i've moved a pair of SRS's twice in the back of a SUV with no problems. I put a mattress down first though.. or a thick heavy piece of foam will work too. place another piece of foam between the speakers to they don't knock into each other.

Jess, just curious as to why it is a bad idea. I would think if you could keep the drivers separate and safe it would be a good thing. What am I missing here?

Where are you going to put 16 drivers and 2 large PR's that is safer than screwed into the cabinet? Not to mention the potential risk of damage caused by getting a screw driver close to the surrounds.

Flat on their backs the drivers will move up and down as the vehicle rolls down the road, which is how they would normally move standing up, in and out. In addition, the natural damping from the sealed cabinet will not let them travel too far one way or the other.
