Solid state, pretty long in the tooth (might need servicing). Good, solid power if the price is reasonable, but nothing to write home to mom about, or paint on the side of your plane.
Cheers,

You have a great amp for a garage / spare rig, whatever. Worse case, flip it and put it towards something you REALLY want.
$50 is a GREAT price in full working order, you have plenty of room to get out of it, when / if.
Cheers,
Russ

Even better.
Do him a favor and sell it to him - $10 bucks, something, help mow the yard, help you clean out the garage, etc. Put a value on it for him, so he starts the hobby with a real sense of value.

Just a question...Does "????" really constitute a thread topic?
Just saying...you might get more responses if you'd made the thread title something along the lines of "Dynaco ST-120...good, bad?";)
Give it to the kid!! We've gotta get the next generation of audiophiles going now, before they get too sucked into the ipod/earbuds craze!!!

You're talking about the original deal not these replicas'' I thought they looked good.

I am considering buying the kit just for something to do in my spare time.
I've never owned tube.
Will I end up with a bright shiny new kt88 tube amp that will make my ears bleed? And yes, I would do it perfectly. Anybody heard one?

I assumed the original.
The one mentioned above is indeed a different kettle of fish.
