I have the Polk rm6900 surround system and i love it for home theater, however it's a little less impressive for music. I happened to purchase 2 additional satellite speakers 2 years ago thinking I might have a 7.1 setup which I never hooked up. If I used the two additional sattelites as additional front speakers on the speaker "b" setting while using the two regular rm6900 fronts on the speaker "a" setting would that enhance the sound? Would this overload my receiver or harm it in any way? I'm thinking of doing this rather than dropping $500+ to upgrade the fronts. Thanks.

I have an older RT and RTi series HT 6.1 system. I stack RT 55 on top of RT 800's for mains. I feel it improved the sound of my mains using the A/B method. I would not mix different speakers but if they are the same speakers then see how they sound. It may enhance your system. I am sure others will disagree but I have had good luck with this setup with these speakers. Since the speakers you have are 8 ohm speakers I am sure your AVR can handle it. I wouldn't try it on an all Lsi system which are 4 ohms.
