The subwoofer level controls are located on the front of this unique Creature Subwoofer with Remote sensor, phase, Omni, turnover(60, 90, 120Hz) and volume control.

Whats an omni and a turnover? :D

Turnover is obviously the crossover frequency.

Omni, I believe, when applied to horn-loaded loudspeakers means that the speaker radiates evenly in all directions and does NOT have a tight dispersion pattern as many horns do. The specs of many horn-loaded speaker systems include one called "dispersion" that is given in degrees. Or.. the entry says 'omni.' Now.. if there is actually a "switch" that says Omni... don't know.. maybe there is a way to have the sub more or less directional out of the horn...?

Thanx man, lol. I thought that was a couch I was looking at at first. Then I saw the horn and the yoga type fold of mediation below the horn, maybe its a blow hole connected to yoga fold woofers??

pure and simple it is a bass horn there is a small driver like a 6 in with will produce as much bass as a 10 or 12 you can buld these with real subs

Good catch StuffMD, looks exactly like a Bose concept there...

As for the Omni... it probably does have something to do with the directionality of the sound, but if you need that it's not a true sub...

I still say all the thing needs is Nipper...

Hey Guys,

dont you recognise this photograph. Its from the first series of phonographs (check your dictionary). There is no electricity applied to this unit. The turn table is powered by a clockwork mechanism, the "horn" connects directly to the needle that sits in the record grove, and the horn provides the acoustic amplification of the needles vibrations, developing reasonable sound pressure levels at 12 inches (not good for big rooms or the Matrix)

Now if you ever find yourself on a desert island, with one of these players and a compatable set of records, just watch what happens when the needle wears out after 10 plays (ouch my ears).

Yup, we get it. The dog's name was Nipper.

10 plays??? Steel needles... about 100 grams of tracking force... yeah, that's about right. Low volume, yes, but pure sound, no electronics to add color... ;)

Aside... a friend of the family had an original Edison model cylinder player that worked. Wish I owned it. I would love either it or a good platter model for a display piece.

I think it would look cool with some Blue Room Minipods.
I would say it's probably a TQWT (tapered quarter wave tube) or a TL (transmission line) similar to my periscopes. Their is a horn flair at the end, but I'd say this is for show. The rate of flair and mouth are to small to be functional.

TL subs all day!

These early inventors were really lateral thinkers. These early mechanical devices, such as the telephone, cylinder player, the phonograph then the Radio, kicked of a consumer demand for home entertainment devices that still hasn't subsided. I wonder if these people (Edison, Marconi and other inventors / engineers) had any idea that these consumer items would fuel the world economies for the next 120 years (so far).

I think this might be a bit heavy, so I best give it up before I embarrass myself and invite ridicule.

Nothing embarassing in what you have stated. You are absolutely correct. Tesla is my HERO.

Let me see if the polk server will let me. Well hell no, justin these pics that I am wanting to post for all to see are not that big, whats the deal I posted some a while back about the same size and had no problem with it then. Is there anything that I can do to enable me to post them. I day this in reference to what was said by hbombtoo previous to my post about the i.t. guys blocking them from ebay.

I agree 100%.

I have to say I'm not anywhere close to that caliber of individual but can say I have had the fortune of working with 2 guys that I can truely say are geniuses. They are rare and eccentric birds to say the least!
