I was having some odd bass problems in the old configuration

With the new configuration and some minor late night tweaking I definitely have more, lower bass -- just matter if it is more accurate

I think it looks a little cooler either way...

Any ideas on other sub placements?

God, you have completely gone off the deep end. No more Sid the Kid.

Placement, study up on quarter and half waves in relation. I don't care for the speakers, but they should be putting out plenty of low end, even without the sub agumentation.

Then again, you've had SVS and VMPS, why did you change? Dalhquist used the same SEAS driver (much earlier version), and only used it to take the DQ10's down from 40Hz to 32 Hz. Not that it will / won't help, but I'd put the amps where the speakers are, and move them (the speakers) out in the room with the subs behind them (again, following the rules to not cancel the quarter and half waves).

Looking at the pics only, your bass traps are WAY too small. Those need to be in the rear corners, you need something MUCH larger up front.

Haha, I know alot of folks dont like Tyler Acoustics - I dig it.

I have the mains set up really strange and I really like it - I sit maybe 6 ft from the CD player -- where as the normal sweet spot would be approx 10 ft or so from the CD player. Kind of like a near field in a far away setup - and the speakers have a 3/8" tilt back - so I get a mean, large center stage. Which I really like - not mention a lot of width.

The super towers do not have alot of bass, the 7u had far more bass with less of the same drivers. Dont get it - the drivers hardly move where as the 7u drivers were jumping out of the enclosures.

Either way, they sound down right anemic without subs.

The subs go down to about 25hz or so - but the tonality and accuracy of them is far above the SVS and VMPS I had previously - I do plan to acquire one of my old VMPS for HT again - that is in the works.. probably another XTi1000 bridged to drive it...

hhaha but thank you though -- It has been a long journey up until this point - hell I remember when me and you were designing the transmission line speakers... haha loads of fun. Those speakers sounded pretty darn good too.

haha my room is pretty much the exact dimensions of the first golden room. This room has incredible acoustics - when I bought the house the second I walked into the den I knew I wanted it - I just wish I had paid closer attention to the rest of the house now obviously hahahahha

Pictures do not do the color justice - the flash makes it look like it glows in the dark or something. It is actually a very dark orange that I think is pretty cool!

What frequency do you have them crossed in at?

I have found in this room, with the super towers, that 80hz and about 1/4 volume in normal phase with a 2.5db bump at 32hz seems to work great...

Now with the 7u I would cross my subs around 40-60hz and run them around the same volume. Still cant figure out why the Super Towers are anemic in the bass - must be the crossover design hmmm

change the toe-in of the vacuum a bit. lose the paint chair and its not a Sid Rig till you get the toy off the shelf and on the rack.

have you run any sweeps to actually know what is going on with the bass???

Thing is, the center of the rear wall is his front door.

I rearranged it again ---

I did the 1 ft from the rear wall and 1.6 from the side (but where it is 4 ft from the rear - etc)

It ended up being 6 ft apart and the sweet spot to my ears is 3 ft away from the CD player... but huge difference in tightness... I am going to slowly back it up - just wanted to tinker tonight is all

Rearranged it again and man does it sound amazing following the 1 x 1.6 formula with some slight toe in.

very interesting. especially the wall-mounted components. different! and I like the symmetry also. never heard (or seen) Tyler Acoustics (other than pics), but they look good, with obviously good Q drivers. not feelin the paint scheme -ha

In person though its neat, I didnt like it at first but it has really grown on me. Makes the den a very inviting place and chill (so to speak)

Here are the current pics and it sounds 10000000 times better this way. I wish I had done this months ago.

This is setup with the Cardas method and with the subs put in the seating position and me walking around.

Note the subs are currently not hooked up

They are approx 2 ft from the back wall and 3.2 ft from the side wall (from the center front of the woofer)

Nah, it's obviously the dog causing an early reflection problem and probably causing a null as well. Just look at the eyes. You should have one behind each speaker curled up with the tail over the nose.

The dog usually stays to the left stage - I find it helps the reflections on the floor quite a bit!!
