In the future, while Polk is pretty lenient on the occasional swearing, you may want to avoid putting it in the SUBJECT.

Intelligent people usually pull over and let them pass.
The others do that in which the BMW guy did.
In my younger days, I probably would have hurt the BMW driver in some manner.
But, too, I wouldn't be speeding on that type of road.
As we age, we become less bulletproof and less than ten feet tall.
Too, my old BMW had 4 digits for a model number and was slow and smoky under deceleration, my old 76 2002.
Handled like a dream, though.
Four different worn tires and it stuck like it was glued, I once asked a technician at BMW why it didn't squeal around corners. He told me I would flip it first.
Incredible.

the BMW in that Vid is a 335i (twinturbo) but its slow and has a decent suspension in stock form. the mazdaSPEED 3 is also turbocharged but in this case it was not stock.
the guy in the Mazda did the right thing IMO, but i would not of been that nice at all.

Umm, did you just say a 335i is slow? It does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and crosses the 1/4-mile mark in 13.6 @ 105. No, that's not blazing. But it sure isn't slow, either.
In stock form it takes the Mazdaspeed3 5.5 seconds to 60 and 14 flat through the 1/4.
I definitely fail to see how the BMW is slow when compared to the 'Speed3.

WTF? Dude, where do you get low 12 seconds on that Speed3? I watched that video months ago and the only thing I recall being mentioned was it having a CAI. Otherwise stock engine. In stock form, the MS3 is lucky to run upper 13s. A CAI is not going to bring it down in the low 12s.
BTW, I know, I have a Speed3. Its quick, but I wouldn't expect to overtake a 335i unless the driver sucked or was half asleep.

Agreed. I'm all for cheap speed, and getting bang for your buck. I'd love to have a '88 notchback doing low 12's in the 1/4 for just a few grand. But just because the 335i is so expensive doesn't mean it's slow. No matter if the price is $12k or $80k, 0-60 in 4.9 is not slow. Just one might represent less performance/$.
Yes, a 335i is slow. At least for the price, IMO.

Really? You're going to take that stance, too?
The 2009 BMW 335i has a base price of $40,600. Does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds.
The 2010 C6 Corvette has a base price of $48,930 and does 0-60 in 4.0 seconds.
Does that mean your mom got ripped off buying her Corvette? Heck no. It's a great car and a great choice if you can afford it. But so is the 335i. And it's not slow.
Admittedly the Corvette is a lot faster. And $9k more expensive. And I'm a Chevy guy through and through, I'd love to have a Corvette. But speaking realistically, compared to the BMW, the Corvette still has a rental car interior with a myriad of cheap and cheaper plastics with crappy seats. The BMW has a spectacular interior, great handling (at least on par with the base C6 I'd wager), and that German engineering and build quality everyone goes on about until I'm sick of hearing it, but it's true.
And not to mention the 335i isn't a sports car. It's a four door 'saloon' for carrying people around in comfort and style. Oh, and it's also really powerful and fast, too. That's not the 3-series' purpose. But the 335i happens to do that very well, too.

i have 2 SRT-4s
one is a mostly stock 2005 black and has taken out stock 335i with ease....
2004 custom silver and the other is fully gutted, full roll cage, a 800hp motor/setup, full race suspension.

The 335i is more of a daily driver.

Do I have to drive one to know how fast it is? Sure, there are lots of things I couldn't state without driving one, but the facts are the 335i does 0-60 in 4.9, and there is no way in heck you're going to convince me that's slow. And gutless? 300lb-ft from 1400-5000rpm is gutless? Ok, I'm glad I now know what the definition of gutless is.
And did I even imply the 335i was as fast as the Vette? I specifically said "the Corvette is a lot faster." I only brought up the Vette because it's something Serendipity has direct experience with.
And on another note, I keep replying with numbers and facts, and you just keep stating your opinion. Which is certainly as valid as mine. I just don't agree with it. Even when I get my dream garage and daily drive a Z06 with a cam'd LS7, I don't believe I'll think 4.9 is SLOW.

Just curious, I thought yours was the MS Protege? What kinda warranty do you still have on that? Isn't that like 7 years old?
I don't plan to make any mods to mine even after the PT warranty expires (another 3 years or 35k miles). I want it to last since its a daily driver and I usually keep cars for 8-10 years on average. For around the city, it really is more than fast enough, especially when the boost kicks in through 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

yup, i have the MSp i have the 2.0 Turbo with sidemount intercooler, you have the 2.3 turbo with top mount intercooler.
i have the extended warranty on it. its a 2003.5 so ya. LOL i was gonna upgrade the turbo on it, but the motors dont do so good with much more boost. i had the motor pop at 41k miles. warranty covered the whole replacement. wrist pin broke. thank god the car was still stock. i have 61k on the car now.

I think the only thing worse than audio snobs are car snobs. People fighting over tenths of a second and calling one car "garbage" over another because of those tenths of a second is ludicrous. Let people drive what they want and friggin' enjoy it already; unless they're specifically trying to throw it in your face that they have a BETTER car, let them enjoy it.
To say a 335i is a piece of junk, and then compare it in any way other than pure numbers performance to a Corvette is ludicrous. Corvettes may be fast, but I had hand-made go-karts as a kid that felt more solid.

Lots of comments about the bimmer jockey being an *******. What about the guy in the Mazda? If I'm driving along and all the sudden some jerk starts "obviously" trying to chase me...I'm going to be pissed as well. The guy with the camera is just as much of an ******* as the other guy IMO.
the mazda guy left plenty of room infront of him IMO and was not tailgating. the BMW owner was the one who stopped on a road to get out and smart off.

just add an WGA or BC and you could play a lil bit.
you can do mods to keep your car looking stock.
PORT WORK!!! port your Turbo housing, exhaust manifold, TB and ITM. all 4 of them would lean you out and add a nice power curve.
were are you located at?
Those might be good options...if I had a speed3. But mine's just the n/a 2.3. :( Not much fun to be had with that. There was a 'speed3 at a lot down the street that I test drove - wow what a difference! I'd be tickled pink and have a huge grin on my face if I had that thing. It would be a while before I *really* wanted it to go faster. Oh well. I'm just waiting to get that first car that really has some potential to have some fun with.
I'm from the triad area, between Winston Salem and Greensboro. But nowadays I'm in Arkansas most of my time, taking classes.

Well if the 335 was as light as the Japanese cars it wouldn't feel slow and gutless. I don't rate speed alone as a factor. I have sold Bimmers in the past, and I drive a SPEC V. Cheap fun car with balls and makes you drive by the seat of your pants. But you put me in the 335, which I have driven, and I will smoke a MazdaSPEED all day long.
If it came down to a Bimmer and A SPEED and money was not the consideration, BMW all day long.
And of course if money was not the option, it would be an M3!

Have to disagree with you there shackdaddy.
The BMW pulled out in front of him enough to where it appeared he had to slow down a little. I wouldn't even call him tailgating him, much less driving like an *******.
Then stopped in the road on a blind corner with no shoulders. Excellent move. Someone did that to me that would be looking down the barrel of a 9mm.
Lunatic freakin entitlement-seeking POS BMW driver is all I saw in this video. Common amongst BMW drivers than most other makes it seems.
Had a douchebag BMW driver today try to get in my lane without even putting on a blinker and then looked at me like I did something wrong. Idiots.

GMMG Dick Harrell Camaro. Gorgeous paint job (in my favorite color no less), unique wide body kit, 427 putting out ~630hp, roll cage, beautiful Fiske wheels, and all the other beefed up goods to match. I think there were only about 69 of them made. If I'm not mistaken, that's Matt Murphy of GMMG in that video, and his did the 1/4 in 10.94@125 with a 1.45 60'.
Yeah, I want one of those. Bad. Though really I'd take any muscle car with that sound!

It definitely won't have the ZR-1's LS9. The most logical speculation at this point is the CTS-V's LSA, which in Cadillac guise puts out 556hp. The hopeful are saying it will be tuned for about 575 or so in the Z-28.
I'm sorry, but I'm just not that interested in it. And I feel like I should be since I love Chevy and Camaro's. But the new Camaro is just too much of a pig. Weighs too much and doesn't handle nearly as well as the Mustang. Which is lighter, tighter, and just as fast. I feel like a traitor saying this, but I'd rather have a new Mustang than a new Camaro. And with the Z-28, I guess that would mean a GT500 instead.

Aww, well the CTS-V's LSA is quite potent too, and if it's indeed tuned for 575 horses in the Camaro it should be a good performer. Yes, the Mustang is a great performer and I like both of them equally. A GT500 would be a good choice, too :)

Yeah, I've been keeping up with that thread. Have read every post. Makes me wanna pull my hair out, how they all just assume the Z-28 is going to be the best thing ever, even though it's still going to be heavier and not much more powerful than the GT500, which has highly acclaimed handling capabilities. I like Chevy and know they *can* make the Z-28 be awesome. They just have a LOT of work to do to the SS to turn it into something that can take on the GT500.
Not interested in the current GC SRT-8?
Nope, sure aren't. If I'm going with an SUV/truck type vehicle, I'd much rather have a Duramax. I've had a craving for a diesel now for the last few years. Though I have to admit the Trailblazer SS looks really nice.

No, actually. Sure, aftermarket wheels and aggressive tires would be nice. But the modifications I have in mind are more of twin turbo, upgrade kit for the Allison tranny, etc. It'd take a lot of money and so a good bit of time to do it, but I'd be aiming to get it into the 11's in the 1/4. Which is entirely doable, and completely amazing considering the thing weighs like 6300+ pounds.
I LOVE this look. Very simple, not outlandish at all (in fact probably stock except the tires?), but still looks aggressive and has a mean stance. It's my dream truck, and right now really my dream vehicle. I'd LOVE to have it for my next ride.

and a stock SRT4 will whomp on a stock MS3
Whomp? And where do you come up with that from?
Boy, you really just spew stuff without much to back you up.
In stock form, the SRT-4 made 215-230HP (depending on the year),
the MS3 was rated at 263HP.
The SRT-4 made 245-250ft/lbs of torque,
the MS3 is rated at 280ft/lbs.
Yes, the SRT-4 was maybe 200lbs lighter, but that's nowhere near enough weight loss to "whomp" the MS3.
In fact, if you look at published numbers, the cars were close to a dead heat depending on the year, test location, etc.
Hard to find direct comparisions tests since the original SRT-4 was discontinued in 2005 and the MS3 wasn't released until 2007.
But, just taking raw test numbers (using Car and Driver for comparison)
Picking the best published by C&D, in April 2004, which was the higher 230HP version the SRT-4 ran 0-60 in 5.3., 0-100 in 13.4, 1/4 in 13.9 @103
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car/04q2/dodge_srt-4-short_take_road_test
In January 2009, the MS3 ran 0-60 in 5.5., 0-100 in 13.2, 1/4 in 14.0@103
http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/original/application/bdc7735e51761f8b1cd0730048f4def0.pdf
Now, take these numbers with a grain of salt, because they are most likely different locations, different conditions, different drivers, etc.
But, it is enough data to say that the SRT-4 will not whomp a MS3.

Wow. I'm beginning to wonder if you're just an automated 'net bot, randomly spouting out these absurd statements.
Here you can read Car and Driver's article testing the 2003 WRX STi in a shoot out with the Evo. (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparisons/03q2/2003_mitsubishi_lancer_evolution_vs._subaru_imprez a_wrx_sti-comparison_tests/2003_subaru_impreza_wrx_sti_page_3)
And here you can read Car and Driver's first drive review of the 2011 WRX STi. (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car/10q3/2011_subaru_impreza_wrx_sti-first_drive_review)
2003 WRX STi: 0-60 in 4.6, 1/4 in 13.2 @ 103. 300hp@6krpm and 300lb-ft@4krpm.
2011 WRX STi: 0-60 in 5.0, 1/4 in 13.5. 305hp@6krpm and 290lb-ft@4krpm.
And from a purely subjective stand point, the STi's from the 2003 era were by far the best looking. The traingular nose on the later ones made them ugly as all get out. Now granted the new ones look pretty decent, but they're hatches. Not a bad thing, really, but the four door sedan is definitely cooler.
So on what exactly are you basing this idea that the new STi is "sick" whereas the older (better looking and faster) STi's are just "blah"? Please, tell me.

oh man
reason for my comments are
on the older STi when adding a performance part, you needed to get a retune/flash for every part you added. which adds up and was a PITA for most STi owners. the new STi is not like this. it is mod/tuner friendly. i did not like the look of the older ones. i was a fan of the EVOs in that time frame.
and the suspension on the new STi is really nice.
i base all my opinions on real world facts of driving and knowing someone that had one or myself owning one.

Ok, so you have experience and knowledge somehow backing up your statement. I guess I'll consider your original post as valid, even though 1) I don't see how "sick" and "blah" even come close to describing what it is you're talking about, and 2) it'd be nice to give some indication that you have ANY knowledge or experience or even hearsay regarding what it is you're posting. Instead of just letting these ridiculous-sounding statements stand out there on their own.

That said, it's not like it's real hard to tune the old STis anyways.... Nor is it expensive.
Not to mention that most turbo MAP-based cars are like this to some extent in the first place. It's the "flapper" cars that are more lenient.

I guess I'll consider your original post as valid, even though 1) I don't see how "sick" and "blah" even come close to describing what it is you're talking about, and 2) it'd be nice to give some indication that you have ANY knowledge or experience or even hearsay regarding what it is you're posting. Instead of just letting these ridiculous-sounding statements stand out there on their own.
ok
i like the new STi. i think the body is nicer looking to me than the older STi models. to me the overall car is much better than the older models and more user friendly (from what i have read and heard from my friends with one)
i test drove an older (2004) STi when i was looking for another toy. i ending up picking up a 2004 SRT-4 for the fact that is just had more balls to it, way cheaper (2004 SRT-4 21k out the door) 2004 STi was like 32k. at the time i could only find the COBB tuner kit for the STi and it was $$. i then got a Mopar Stage 3r kit from dodge that put the SRT-4 over 3xx FWHP to the ground. im still happy i choose the SRT-4.
i have been working on turbo/supercharged cars for some time now, i was also a Diesel mech for awhile.
SORRY if i come off as a know-it-all about cars.

That said, it's not like it's real hard to tune the old STis anyways.... Nor is it expensive.
Not to mention that most turbo MAP-based cars are like this to some extent in the first place. It's the "flapper" cars that are more lenient.
i have never tuned a STi, but just remember when they were out for a few years that they were a PITA for adding mods.
and i think the older STi is on a MAF and not a MAP sensor. not 100% sure tho

I give you props for being man enough to admit it :)
But yes, like what audiobliss said, elaborating your points with facts would help validate what you're saying.
if im wrong about something, i will man up to it. but im am very hard headed.

I'm very curious where you guys would drive a car with 550+ HP (Z06 TT or that Camaro, AB). I love cars but cars like that are pointless besides a 1/4, IMO. I love the current Z06 but the stock C5 Z06 has enough balls to put you in enough trouble and the handling and braking chops to eat up practically anything else out there. I don't even know where you would get traction or use first gear.
I think it is sad when people take such perfectly molded cars (Corvette in particular) and ruin the balance.
