hum from sub

was given a klh 8 inch self powered sub, works fine but has a low but noticeable hum when plugged in.

is this a hazard, or just annoying, also, what is the most likely culprit to cause this. thanks

possibly a bad cable, not knocking your gear or anything but KLH isnt known for subs.
