Hi Everyone
So I managed to stumble upon these speakers at a garage sale.
These speakers are in excellent condition and look to have been taken very well care of from the older gentleman selling them.
I have no idea if these are worth buying except the fact they are Polk which is the only reason I took notice to them.
The drivers look rather large didn't measure them and they are front ported from what I saw.

Anyone know if they sound good?
Worth the $20 or should I move on?

Thank You

Grab 'em. My favorite Polk bookshelf, ever.

The mid/woof is 7.5 inches which is pretty unusual for Polk....as they live and die by the 6.5.

My first Polks ever. I got'em for $60 from the Salvation Army, and I still consider that be a great deal. They are an excellent bookshelf.

I paid $100 for mine and they're worth every penny. $20 isn't just a steal, it's armed robbery.

Still using my RT7's too. Grab 'em. It'll be the best $20 you'll ever spent.

Well, I went back to take a look at the Polks but hesitated on pulling the trigger on them.
I didn't feel comfortable about the unusually larger drivers on the speaker.
Wasn't able to hear them either so I just picked up a pair of Mission 731's instead which the fellow also happened to be selling. Think I did well at $100 for them plus they will pair great with my Adcom amp.

You could have bought them and re-sold them for 50 to 75 bucks easily. Not that you'd want to if you had heard them. 100 for the missions isn't that great a price either (250 retail, vs 450 retail for the polks). Just sayin.

Unusually large drivers? Huh?

Long as you are happy, that's what's important...but, you missed out on something special.

I haven't come across any bookshelf speakers that employ a 7.5" woofer.
Found that to be a little odd so I didn't want to gamble.
I was just concerned that the speakers might sound a bit bassy or muddy.
Went for the safer bet in a small woofer. Generally Bookshelfs have 5.5" or 6.5" drivers.
I'd love to get my hand on a used set of Lsi 9's but its just a tad bit out of my price range lol

I can think of a lot of 2-way speakers that used a driver bigger than 6.5 and sounded pretty fantastic....and for 20 bucks, you certainly wouldn't have been out much either way. That said, as long as you are happy....enjoy!
