That's right Palm Tree's, Cool Breezes, Blue Sky's, Warm Sun.... Now saying that I predict Dark Sky's, Heavy Rain, No Sun, and even some Snow!

Date is set for Oct 7th Friday, Oct 8th Saturday, and Oct 9th Sunday to remove your butt and your stuff out of my house as the host (Me) will need a nap!

The Plan for now, I'm sure things will change as needed.... Stay tune.

Are anyone planing on bring your family with you?

Parks...
I live about 7 miles to Disney, 4 miles to SeaWorld or Universal.

Hotels / Food / Everything else under the sun.
My house is about 3 miles to "I" drive / International Drive.

I get some idea's where you can get a hotel room, there's everything you would like. I would need some ideas what you guy like, or like to spend but anything near a "Park" is close to me also.

Haha, I just told my wife and she is THRILLED about it! She already wants to start planning which park she is going to bring our son to. You made me a hero DisneyJoe. Thanks for offering your home to us!

I'd be happy to bring gear too, but it's a little early to tell what I'll have then ...we'll just have to wait and see what I have, and see what you want?

This is really tempting. Just today my 13 year old was saying..."Dad, when are you going to take me to......?

Have to see how we can plan ahead for this. It won't be easy to have that period off this coming year!

logistics information...As many people here that wish to be here for Orlando PF2011 I think many people like some places to stay here or there. So I'm thinking as things are getting closer I'll put a thread for logistics so you can post where you like to stay, as someone else may like to stay there also. I feel this will be better fair to you then me to say stay here or there, I know there's many hotels places around me. Orlando has some 12k+ hotel rooms or so.

How is everyone going to bring audio equipment if its far away and most fly there

Would love to attend a polkfest but I thought the general idea was to bring all your audio equipment and play around listening to music?

dorokusai

Bringing equipment is and always has been optional. It's usually just for fun and to be able to play with different combinations. UPS and FedEx is how I would send items.

Private jet.

Would love to attend a polkfest but I thought the general idea was to bring all your audio equipment and play around listening to music?

Not really. It's about hanging with friends and making new ones, eating well and for some, drinking heavily. Music? Yeah, there will be some of that too.

For SURE. When I think of PolkFest you top the list BDT for setting the bar. Every Fest has been terrific and every Host pulled the stops out. Troy host's with rare style and of course the extremely HOT TLW is the PolkFest Queen, note, honorable mention to Flexible Anna. As far the grind of actually hosting Mark and Troy laid it out, one of those things you won't know till you know.

The PolkFest thing is, sure there is gear, lots of great stuff and you got to have some, the real deal though is getting to share, see, meet and party with the Club Polk board stalwarts as well as make some new ties, each one binds the members and takes on a life of its own.

We rocked Jersey and we'll rock Orlando.

It's PolkFest, It's a Party and It's Awesome.

Bring it.

My suggestion as it is the closest hotel to me, and it can be short term a couple of nights or longer if needed. Rates seem reasonable at $69 or so, it can also be found in the Orlando 32836 hotels link above.

Thanks Ted,

I think we'll need an entire suite, my daughter would be coming too? This also reminds me of when a number of us almost got thrown out of a suite in a Hilton in D.C. because we were 'partying' too loudly in a suite that our association had paid for for that very purpose. We had three visits from security and then they just opened the bar for us in the lobby?

Hi All,

Colleen and I thought that it would be fun to have a Holiday Dinner for those in the Orlando and surrounding areas; and to add to the fun we can all bring our "Better Halves". The thought is that we all get together on 11/30/07 Friday evening. The time and location are still undecided, suggestions are welcome.

Anyone game?

That's the great thing about Florida. Even if it does rain it will usually be beautiful most the day, a storm will blow in, unleash hell on us for 40 minutes, then clear up and the sun will be shining all over again like it never happened. Been here 20 years and still can't get over how bizarre that is.

I'm 'really' trying to make this...but logistics and timing are still in flux? Would be my first trip to Florida. My wife has already been there. Now if I can only convince her that she needs to go again?

How about a real estate tour? We're in the market for a retirement home (probably wouldn't actually move in for another 13 years or so?) but the market is good for buying 'now'. Could be a strategy on my part. That and the fact that my 13 year old has never been to Disney, etc.

Fingers crossed.

Somebody needs to start inviting him to these things, maybe one day we might get lucky and he'll show up... I don't know what he's up to now, but I'd guess he's semi-retired after selling Polk Audio, right? Maybe one day he'll say: "why the heck no? Polkfests are a must attend if you really want to get the dynamic of what this place is about. Meeting people face to face its sooooooo much better. Not sure how many more we have in us as things get splintered and times change so if you don't attend one soon there may be no more.

Is anyone going to bring an ICE amp?

Not sure it would make the trip in a cooler, it would probably melt unless someone lived closer.

One thing I've found at most PF's is critical listening to a plethora of gear just doesn't happen. It's a social event and while a lot of listening takes place for sure, it's not what I'd call iron clad critical. That said if something sounds really good or like ass, most people will pick up on that. Trying to critically compare several pieces to each other is difficult.

Eat, drink and be Merry and don't let John near the liquor cabinet

Since I live only about 40 minutes north of I-Drive, it'd be easy for me to bring source components/amps, but I doubt I have anything that would be considered critical listening equipment. I'd be driving to/from each day so I can take care of my dogs. Any particular plans for each day in case I prefer to be there for a certain event?

I've been holding out on modding my 1C crossovers, maybe I can bring the boards, upgrade parts & cash and I can see how it's done :)

As of what and when, I'm pretty open.... But think it will go this way, Friday play time, Saturday is Fun time when most things are setup and others like to hear this or that. I think you will enjoy both days, Sunday morning people will repack their equipment so they can trip back to their house.

soooooo....the pump is growing...like a bull moose in rut...going to the fest, fest, fest, going to the fest.....

I will bring some goodies from deep inside the Rabbit Hole, something a bit more ..esoteric than the ordain for ear-candy. Never know as my yang becomes my ying...with an Orlando Chicken Wing...going to the fest, fest, fest...yea baby PolkFest Rocks, nothing like it, cuz the Polkies bring Rain wherever they land.

As the polkus ermertius dynamic duo members smelly earth and lover of ass-gaskets may miss the gala this go, I will attempt at least to locate their appropriate glossy's for us to have fun with in most unusual manners.

I believe Big Lou has some left-over warm beer and stale beans from JerseyFest to add spice to the cuisine. As we know longer have official board polkies per say..(bummer) newbs should know these things are very much a celebration of all things Polk, as well as this club's members, much more a social gathering than stodgy listening session, you will enjoy yourself...meet old and new friends...and get a bit of insight into what makes Club Polk more than just an internet forum.

Its Polkfest...its a Party......and its coming soon.......

Not a bad deal to me, MapQuest states 11 mins / 5.98 miles. Not as easy as the Hotel just south of me, But then again for 5.98 miles WTH.

Sir, would it be okay that I am a lightweight? alcohol tolerance that is. Or should I build it up to avoid waking up with felt tip drawn whiskers? I just now noticed deals on hotels and resorts at and around your place. I thought we are all pitching tents?

You're fine with me if you never touch any Alcohol my girlfriend is a very little drinker also, so I feel you would be in good company. As far as pitching tents HeHe, backyard only the HOA doesn't like tents... But then again back yard is filled with a pool so even that maybe...

Gotta clear with work yet....lemme see and I will be in touch...looks like a great fest is certainly shaping up...just as always...the Polk's are going to blow people away...not to let too much out of the bag ahead of time this is definetly a statement speaker, they like clean power with quality gear upstream.

Yeah, MCO=OIA. MCO refers to the airports former name, McCoy Airforce Base.

I still plan on being there, definitely Saturday, maybe Friday. Joe, if you need someone to help setup equipment give me at least a couple days notice and I should be able to assist. I can either come down in the evening after work or attempt to take the day off if given enough notice.

How's driving down?

Ted?

Jesse?

George?

Anyone bringing down equipment?

Because my house is an open family area, I don't think 3 system in the house will work. I use a bedroom for the 2 channel system, but I need some help for the 2 channel system, since my Halo A23 amp works ok but LSiM707 needs something bigger. I could use my CJ PV-5 amp, and my TT, also anyone could bring a stand for the LSiM703 speakers.

HT system in the Family Room.

So let's cap...

I got these, for the 2 channel room.

CJ PV-5 pre amp.

Halo A23 amp.

Yamaha YP-211 TT.

Anyone wish to bring anything higher?

May need a sub for the LSiM703 speakers, could anyone bring one? I'm going to use mine for the HT system.

Steve - I am going to bring may VAC PA100/100 power amp and VAC pre with MM phono. This tube amp can handle down to 1 ohm speakers at 105 Watts per channel so I was hoping it can drive the 707s. In addition I was debating about a bringing my CDP or turntable. I should be able to bring my monitor stands also. In addition I will bring some 3 meter speaker cables and ICs if it will help in swapping things around as the weekend goes along. Let me know.

I wish I could hear that, especially on the 3s.

The 707s need boatloads of power, so I hope someone is bringing something capable of at-least 350w at 4 ohms. I'm sure it's been discussed but I'm too lazy to look back through the thread

please forgive this question as i am new to the community:

is this polkfest simply a unsanctioned gathering of like-minded enthusiasts bringing their personal gear for a bit of social hour/backyard BBQ/show and tell/shop talk...

...or is it something that polk is involved in with special testing of new and/or rare products?

either way this is something that interests me, esp because i live in florida...i have both social and professional obligations that weekend so this isnt a possibility for me but i may like to consider such a gathering in the future.

and my apologies if this is a more of a closed event that i stumbled into...im not trying to invite myself into somewhere i may not be welcome.
