It's here!! It's a "Green" SACD (label side completely green for "better" sound quality)!! It's a new sampler/demo SACD from Sony Music for Japanese audiophile magazine "Stereo Sound". Much of the music on this sampler SACD have never been released on SACD before.

The Jake Shimabukuro cover of the Beatles' "Across The Universe" featured Cyndi Lauper on vocals.

Jake Shimabukuro, absolutely amazing how that kid plays the ukulele. Local boy and I've had the pleasure of hearing him play live at a couple of gigs here. Have you heard him with Pure Heart, Danny? Great stuff.

[Nobu's Popular Selection]
The Reference SACD is finally issued. It contains the much anticipated popular music tracks that Mr. Nobuyuki 'Nobu' Who selected.

• Catalogue Number: SSRR5 (TDGD90016)
• Specifications: SACD / CD hybrid ('Onsho' courted label used)

◆ The 15 tracks were thoughtfully selected from the vault of Sony Music (and BMG), and the 10 tracks has been issued on SACD here for the first time. The selection which includes the music of Alan Parsons Project, Boz Scaggs, Roger Waters, Karla Bonoff, and Sarah McLachlan, can be heard on SACD for the first time ever.

◆ Mr. Who intendes not 'to make a disc to collect great sounding materials' but to compile 'the music I want to listen to'. He thought the music which had never been issued on SACD should have been covered for the purpose and That's why he had to listen to almost all of his big CD collection and it took almost six months to finish the task. The liner note contains the interesting episodes around this.

◆ It is needless to say that he took great care for not only the selection but also the sound quality. For the materials that have ever been issued on SACD, the original DSD date were used, while for ones that have never been DSD converted, the earliest master with good condition were searched as far as possible. Some used the analogue master tapes for the domestic vinyl for good result. The Ann Burton track is an example which is also the oldest recording, while the Beatles track recorded in 2009 with Jake Shimabukuro and Cyndie Lauper is the latest. It was quite a surprise that the original multi track master could be used, instead of the CD master.

◆This is the SACD with which you could expect the highest quality and since it does not contain the multi channel layer, we don't have to use the compressed DSD data. As it is a double layered disc, it is playable on any CD player. As the Onsho label, which uses a special green ink for better sound, was employed, good result can be expected for both layers. So if you own a disc that contains the selection from this SACD, chances are you're getting a better result.

◆ Mr. Who complied the SACD 'of great music' with his soul. He really hopes many would listen to it.

That is quite an interesting mix. And wow, Michael Hedges on SACD.
