I remember posts here before questioning the Duffy thing but they are all quite old. Not many know about her so here's the deal.

Welsh singer/Songwriter. Unique voice. Nobody to really compare her too. A soul singer but not really a soul singer. Kinda bluesy too. It's not a different sound just surprising coming from her. Her first mainstream album "Rockferry" dropped in 2007. She was 24. She hit the scene at not such a great time 'cause of Adele (who I really don't care for) and Winehouse making big waves. Adele for talent, Winehouse for trainwrecks. Well, she got noticed. It's hard not to notice her when this walks up on stage:

and wins Best Pop Vocal Album for "Rockferry". People noticed at that point. She was all over the news.

The biggest song off that album was "Mercy" which is, honestly, a pretty hot track. It's worth owning "Rockferry" for this track alone:

The other big hit off of "Rockferry" was "Warwick Avenue". It's not really as nice of a track as "Mercy" but a good track none the less. Especially that guitar in the background.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ScSHEnFNRck?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ScSHEnFNRck?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Several other tracks including the title track charted and got in the Top 100 so it's not a bad album at all. I still haven't gotten out and gotten it because she doesn't get much mainstream exposure and that sucks because she's real talent and deserves to be noticed.

So last night, I was flicking through channels trying to fight off insomnia and I hit Jimmy Fallon's show. She's out promoting her new album "Endlessly"

I came in halfway through the performance but she was singing this song, "Well Well Well" off the new album. I was suitably impressed.

So, yeah, if you haven't already, check her out. Her albums are very well produced and besides having a unique sound, she's got bundles of talent. Pretty cute too!

I saw her on Austin City Limits a year or so ago. She was ok...but I wasn't all that impressed.

I like Duffy, although I haven't heard much of her yet--She reminds me of old school 60's style, esp. Mercy--So much so I thought Mercy was actually a remake. Her sound (not necessarily vocal sound), maybe I should say style, somewhat reminds me of LuLu:

I'm also a fan of Adele--What don't you like about her--For me she has something, the music, the voice--I really really like her whole album 19-I can listen to it anytime and all day long.

I saw that movie--great movie- I was just channel surfing one night and started watching it---That's when I first heard (sort of) that song 'To Sir With Love', then I researched it a bit more and learned of Lulu since she sang the soundtrack as it was familiar to me.
