Hey all,

Just moved out of the dark age and upgraded to a new AVR instead of a preamp. I bought this:

http://www.integrahometheater.com/model.cfm?class=Receiver&m=DTR-50.2&p=i

I have the two hafler 9500's biamped to the fronts, so it is only 5.1 now.
I also upgraded to optical out on the cdp and satellite tv, I then
used digital out for dvd.
This avr is made for hdmi but I am probabally the only cp member who does not have a HD tv

This upgrade alone was put off long enough! I have had the same avr since when I purchased the srs 3.1TL's back in the 90's! The tv upgrade will be next, I bought the last largest analog tv in 05 (it was on sale).

This reciever is a net ready AVR and also has a gui interface (which is new to me) it also is windows 7 ready.
Just wanted to share with you all. There is so many buttons and gadgets, so I will get back with you all when I get over the "learning curve"!

Thanks for looking,
Matt

Thanks...It has been pretty fun already, I have been learning something new about it almost daily.

I have been considering this to my tv upgrade. Not necessarilly from BB and I am not promoting this in any way.
any thoughts?

I am real happy with the way it sounds reel. I got to free up the "y" adapters that were used in my old avr. Not that they were junk (they were tops in the 90's) they were XLO pro's. But nevertheless they were degrading.
I biamped and used the back/surrounds preouts so now I am at 5.1.
But it sounds freaking amazing. It really opened up the sound. IMO
I think I am going to perhaps buy the AQ King Cobra IC's for the Haflers.
I am still using the XLO IC's I have had all the time.
With all the mods to the 3.1's and spkr wire, PC's and optical cables and now a new AVR....perhaps I and my wallet can finally rest awhile?

Thanks all,
Matt

P.S I still need the HD tv :frown:

It's been one of the best AVR's I've owned so far. I have the less aesthetically pleasing TX-NR5007 which is yours on the inside. Sonically it's not as warm as my B&K317 but as far as power goes it's ran everything I've thrown at it, including 4ohm loads. It probably has too many features for me and I'll figure them out eventually.

cool, I am happy with my B&K 317, it topped my OnK as far sound quality, but no hdmi and so on. I just send the pic from the sources straight to the tv as a work-a-round, I let the OppO do the HD sound for movies via analog outs. Still one day I have to move into the 21 century.....thanks for the info on your unit, sounds like a winner.

As far as the tv, well, it the circle of audio, one upgrade to the next, enjoy. Having a nice HT just waiting for you is great.
