Hi All,

I was wondering if you could al help me with some suggestions

I have a 2003 ford Lightning that I want to retain the stock head unit but upgarde the speakers. I purchased 4 DB571 Polk 5x7 speakers and am now wondering what Amp and sub would be a good choice to match with my Stock head unit and the polk speakers.

Thanks

You could look into the new MM line subs. They are shallower subs than most but perform better than most "shallow mount" subs. You shouldn't have much issue getting one to fit in that truck.

As far as amps, I'd be looking for a solid 4 channel that is 2-ohm stable per channel (not bridged). I would run the subs off the rear two channels and run both left speakers off the front left channel and both right channels off the front right channel. It would present a 2 ohm load per channel and you would lose your fade capabilities, but in a truck it shouldn't matter much.

Another suggestion most will make is ditching the rear speakers. I prefer it w/out rears, but I don't see where you'd be gaining the same benefits others do since they have better processing capabilities.
