Hi Polk Brothers, and Sisters:

I don't buy the equipment I choose becouse it's the best! I don't buy it because it's the most expensive. I don't buy it because it's the most popular brand. Or because it's what my friend has, or says I should buy.

The reason I'm a member of this forum, and perhaps you're a member of this forum, is because you brought Polk speakers. I submitt the reason you brought them was that they offered you the best value for your dollar.

I try to use the same common since I believe I used when shopping for everything. It would be nice to be able to buy the most expensive equipment around . Money no object. But in the real world, the one I live in ! I work hard for the money. I get up and go when I don't want too sometimes. So in every realm the most important factor must be getting the best value for my dollar, it must be. And sometimes that means spending more than I planned to

So as you seek answers on this excellent forum. Also seek the best value for your dollar. Peace

"It would be nice to be able to buy the most expensive equipment around ."

IMO just because it's the most expensive doesn't mean it's the best.

Bang for buck is what it is a rule at any level, no?

If you had $100 for a pair of speakers or $10,000, you would want to get 'the most' for money ethier way.

I've heard $800 2ch rigs, setup properly, that would rival rigs in the 3-4 thousand range.

Hey buy the best equipment you can find and get it on sale or at wholesale prices. Never forget to ask for a discount. You might get one. Also shop around. I decide what I want and then look for the best deal.

Good luck'

I couldn't agree more. I would also like to add that a good book on acoustics or electronics can be pretty cheap, but can draw you further into the hobby and give you a better understanding of things than looking through the mags and skipping to the prices and assuming quality based on price.

I find that you can buy much better used stuff if you are willing to pay a little more. For example, if you have $200 to spend on an amp you can find a decent one worth maybe $300 new. If you can double that and pay $400 you can find one worth maybe $1000. Spend $500 and you may find something in the $1500 range. Go the next step and pay $800 and you may possibly find a $3000+ one. Obviously you have to keep your eyes open and be flexible in your decesions. Oh yea, and you will never find the best deal if you are looking for it at the time so be ready to buy when the oportunity presents itself.

I don't get it... Who, from 8 years ago, were you replying to??

Or were you just reporting a spammer and everyone else jumped in?

I don't know who I was responding too.
Music has messed up my mind.
I'm totally out of it.
I was just reading things and not looking at dates.
I'm an old man, one foot in the grave.

Oh, it was that guy that was posting about the penis advantage.
.
He was spamming all over the place.
See, I can remember some things.
