What's up everybody? I recently purchased a Denon 2803. I posted an earlier thread about a Rotel RSX-965 but I couldn't even get the damn thing to turn on. I would hit the power button, everything would light up and then it would kick to Stand-by mode after 3 seconds (it kept doing this even with no components or speakers hooked up). Anyways, I went with the 2803. It sounds fantastic. The dealer I bought this from has a 2800 DVD player for $399, This enticed me a little since I am currently running an XBOX for a DVD player. My question is:
1: Is this a good price?
2: Does it play burned CD's?
3: To play a DTS-ES or DD surround-EX does the DVD player have to decode the signal or will the 2803 decode it into the surround back channels?

Thanks for any advice!

Denon AVR-2803
Front: RTi100's (biwired)
Center: CSi40 (biwired)
Side surround: RTi38
Back surround: none yet, still shopping
Sub: Sony 12" (will be replaced when I get a raise!)

ACDDS,

The amp should do the decoding for you. Just get a toslink cable for the audio connection from them dvd player to the amp. As for the price of the dvd player, according to shopping.yahoo.com the price ranges from 565-689 so $399 is a deal. Run back and get it if that is the player for you. Does it play burned CD's? According to the yahoo listings it does. Take a burned cd to the dealer and play it there to confirm. Lastly us the RT38i for your rear channel and get the FX30i or the FX50i for your side speakers. The wedge design in bipol mode should be great. BTW crutchfield has them on sale.

Good luck.
