recommendations in proton equipment for SDA SRS?

I'm purchasing a pair of SDA SRS 2.3TL's, and need to pair a 2-channel amp with my Pioneer Elite 43TX which doesn't officially support anything other than 8-16 ohm speakers. On hand is a Proton D540 Integrated Amplifier, which I know can push enough current to support down to a 2 ohm load, well within the 2.3 TL's 6 ohm load. The only problem is the amp peaks around 220 @ 6 ohms. Will this work for me while I save up for a nice amp, like an adcom gfa 555? Any other recommendations for an amp for these monsters? The rest of my setup will be driven from the receiver @ 125w/channel.

Other concerns- If the only externally amped speakers are my mains, how large do you think the volume difference will be between my fronts and my surrounds (RT800i's) and center (cs350LS) when in HT mode? The receiver does allow for +-10 db across the speakers, but will that be enough to properly setup my HT with the 2.3TL's?

2. I think the Proton will do nicely as an intial amp for your SDA's. It's not a name that gets a lot of "ink" 'round here, but was very high value stuff, once upon a time (still have a Proton TV that was the cest looking think around when I bought it). Later on you may crave more power, but for now will do nicely.

3. HT balance will be achievable, but the question will be how loud you can go. This to a large extent depends on whether you have a sub and can run speakers in small for HT. If you don't have a sub, you might want to run center and surrounds small and route the LFE to your mains.

I do have a sub -an old polk psw200 (not a newer model 202) and can run my speakers in small for HT, however listening to the 2.3 TL's I'm getting, I don't know if I'm going to need a sub.

Agree that the 200 is not going to carry the load vs. your SDA's.

Try routing the LFE to them as I mentioned above and running the center and surrounds on small.

Just notived that your Proton is an integrated amp... missed that the first go round. Complicates things a bit when it comes to balancing your HT as you'd have two volume controls in play.

I can't think of a simple solution off hand to make good use of the Proton.

I've seen your other threads seeking power amps rec's. A better way to go IMO and you can sell the Proton or save it for a dedicated 2 ch rig...
