RTi70's Bi Wire and a Solder kit

So i was reading a post the other day about using banna clips and not getting a good connection on the gold plate's. I have this problem. So i read some more and Solder came up and i thought hey what a great idea, right? I went to HD and got a weller kit for like 14 bucks came back and sarted to solder but it seems like the solder doenst get a good stick on the gold plates. Any sugg? Am i using the wrong solder? Never soldered before and any help would greatly be appreciated.

DO NOT SOLDER DIRECTLY TO THE TERMINALS ON THE SPEAKER!!!

The solder joint should be at the wire/banana jack, you may need to use some flux if you are trying to solder 2 different metals. A 60/40 resin core solder should work okay though.

This is your problem right here. I'm not a big fan of this product. I've never had much success twisting them and getting them to stay on the wire, and they're pins, so they're going to have the least amount of contact area when connecting to your polk binding posts. These are not *actually* banannas, as bannanas are shorter, stubbier, and will *jam* into the hollow part of the binding posts and refuse to let go.

Not a fan of them either. Bought the bananna equivalent and couldn't even get them to stay on the Monster wire I was using. Another wasted $20...

maybe i'll just go ahead and get a bi-wire kit this will sove all my porblems without the head ache. thanks polksters

i just received the new monster locks banana plugs and they work great, someone above posted a link to their pic, great banana plugs and easy to hook up

I agree that they aren't the greatest, but hes trying to make do with what he spent money on. I have used them, and realized later that I was not turning them the right way....I don't recall which way it was, but it makes the difference.

After I read the instructions, they worked fine. :)

They will not accept a real gauge wire either, I would guess 16 gauge would be the intended size.
