View Full Version : MM120 help with box and amp
i jut got 2 mm120s and i need help finding out what kinda box and what the specifications i need for them and what kinda amps should run to them, thanks alot.
I would suggest using a sealed enclosure that has a sealed volume of .88 cubic feet per woofer. You can also build a bandpass enclosure. We have this design available on our website. Make sure the enclosure is made out of 3/4" MDF. Particle board enclosres won't cut it for these woofers. You will blow them apart!! We do have recommended box plans posted on our website. Click on the subwoofer (MM120) and then on box plans.
For the amplifier look at amps from Alpine, Fosgate, MTX, Kicker's ZR Series, and Zapco. Look for a 2 Ohm mono stable amplifier that has a power rating of 500 to 800 Watts minimum. Set the low pass crossover between 80 to 90 Hertz. Allow 40 hours of playing music at a reasonable level to let the woofer's suspension "break-in".
