Looking for a inexpensive 2 channel amp. Anyone have experience with the Amc 2100?

How's the sound and build quality. I'm either considering the amc 2100 or audio source amp 2.

Jockos,

What speakers and pre-amp and/or reciever do you plan on using with the AMC?

Choosing seperate components is all about what we audio-types refer to as the "mating" game. Each component, be it a speaker, amp, pre-amp, cd player, cable, has its own sound. The same piece of gear could sound excellent on one rig, and sound like crap on the other. The challenge is to mate your gear together to recieve maximum performance, budget allowing of course.

I am the proud owner of various AMC gear. I have come to find that for my personal tastes and budget, the AMC2100 fits my needs perfectly. It's value giving me more than what Nad, Rotel, Parasound, etc... could give me.

The best way to describe AMC's sound would be clean and powerfull. This particular amp has quite a bit of horsepower in it, and maintains enough headroom to really cover musical or theatrical bursts/peaks. It can also be used as a mono-block for a whopping 250 watts per channel. Now THAT...is some gusto.

As stated before, a critical part of this hobby is the mating game. The AMC will not mate with everything.

I have come to find its sound to be rather foward, and harsh. Prepare yourself to use the treble knob on your pre-amp and/or reciever to adjust the levels as you see fit. If you own bright speakers, then AMC may not be the choice for you. If you own relatively lax or flat speakers, than this may be a great solution.

No matter what, expect great imaging and clean, non-distorted sound. The amp is very solidly built. Its color is rather plain (metallic black), but it can go with pretty much any decor.

Some people have described this amp as sounding rather un-involving and bland. Again, its all about the mating game and what you like.

This piece can be had for under 300 USD, which is damn near a steal for what you are recieving. The AMC2100 is by far the best value I have come to discover thus far.

Regards,

Sean
