View Full Version : Justin: Game Forum?

Hey Justin,
Seriously man, you outta add a game section. I know there are alot of gamers on this forum and I am sure it would be a regular thing. I am about to get into the gaming market after I get my new sub and repair my surrounds and everything like that. I think you should definetely think about it. As I would be an all time regular poster. Fo Sho.

The Music and Movies could work, Off Topic could to, but how about a strictly gaming forum? That would rule dude, post cheats, hints, tricks, game title, release dates, opinions, you know the Club Polk style! lol! But think about it dude, I would definetely be a regular on there...

I agree. I have seen game sections on other forums, and they looked mighty cool. I know I would appreciate one, and would frequently use it.

Mx, I think you would be better off changing the 'spin' on your statement.

How about suggesting a 'Multimedia Speakers - Gaming' forum.

It would have *something* more to do with Polk, and you chances for actually getting such a forum might increase.

Cheers,
Russ

You know, wouldnt you classify Bose as an overpriced computer speaker system? I mean...really...lol

Anyways, yeah - It would be a good place to post problems with the computer speakers that some customers have and come here time to time to solve.....

But it would totally rock, I would love it as I have been out of the gaming world for a while due to my audio hobby. But I hope to get back into it later next year and would love to go full force until christmas of 2004. Which I could move alot of game retail in that time. This will be awesome!

Cmon gamers! Get your votes in! The more the better chance it'll happen.

As Justin says, you ask, it happens

Yeah, You got another gamer here.

The only thing is, I don't know if I could find enough to talk about to merit the addition of a new section, however if one were to go up, it's got my support.

Actually, that would be kinda cool. I really don't know where to go to find info on the latest and greatest in PC games (other than running to the nearest store).

Got my vote!

While I wouldn't consider myself a gamer I still love a good 12 hr Tetris marathon or some Final Fantasy. There's also a PC game, Battlefield 1942 (?) that my buddy showed me. I finally have a laptop (with built in Polks) that can handle it.

If he doesn't go for it I suggest moving it to the Music & Movies category. "Your reviews, suggestions, and questions regarding ALL current entertainment formats" pretty much sums it up.

Tiger Woods 2004 coming out in a few weeks. Can't wait.

Cool, sounds like a good idea, and an actual reasonable suggestion, considering the source ;)

Micah, think of a catchy name and make a description and it'll be done (I love passin' the buck)

Nor can I. I am debating whether to just order it now, or rent it once to make sure it doesnt blow, and then buy it. Either way, its going to be Tiger Woods 2003 or 2004. Just an awesome game.

LCD's are generally a trade-off between space and sharp details in high speed gaming. If you're willing to spend the cash, you can get a real nice LCD screen that is a top performer. Sharp makes some nice LCD screens and this Samsung is no sloucher either. I'm using the DVI connector from the Video to LCD. It doesn't generate near as much heat as my old 19" CRT, takes up about 1/3 of the space, uses 1/10th of the power, has a low response time (ablity to switch pixels on and off) to keep the "streeking" from happening when you play FPS, and most importantly, a super bright backlight and filter to keep things in check. Whites look like whites and blacks look like black (not gray).

THERE WILL BE NO "GAME FORUM" UNLESS...

Unless I get ass-urances that you folks will not just talk about games and all that goofy crap, but that you will POST GAME AUDIO REVIEWS. You know the drill: This sounds great on my Polk Computer Speakers (or whatever) because of this... Or that... Or listen for this... Or that...

NO GAME FORUM on our audio site unless I get a PROMISE that this is what will happen. GAME AUDIO REVIEWS.

Discuss.

Hell I can give you multiple audio reviews on my ps2 games and GameCube games.

Such as SSX Tricky, and GTA:Vice City playing in DTS. Or the DDay Omaha beach landing in Metal of Honor. Playing Resident Evil or Eternal Darkness on the gamecube and barely making it to the bathroom after a near crap yourself experience because some damn creepy crawly was behind you!

Its all good Micah. Audio is what makes it a "gaming" experience. :)

Ceruleance
09-05-2003, 02:35 PM
while i agree that audio is essential to the game experience i doubt that we could keep the forum solely on game sound, every thread would eventually get sidetracked. On the audio note though, everyone with those dinky computer speakers is really missing out on game sound. I was just watching the Half-Life 2 demo movies on IGN.com and the distinct hits from the slugs of the submachine gun really come alive on my RT55i's and Infinity IL120s.

I still have yet to make use of the 5.1 on my soundcard, however. if anyone knows where I can get a miniplug to TOSLink style optical cable that is around 3m and less than 20 bucks, lemme know.

Well one thing is for sure...

The Gaming forum could be a computer based forum...

Instead of gaming, it could be computers

As in...

Talk computers, gaming, game consoles, video cards, OS, ram, harddrives, computer speakers, computer rigs, sound, video, graphics, w/e the eff tickles Micah's sock's pickle!

One thing is for sure, I would be a regular on there as I like computers and I love games! So weeeeeeee!

This sounds great on my Polk Computer Speakers! Before,
I had these speakers, I never realized that the computer beeped at you when you chose an invalid move!!

Yessirree... from now on, I can say I have a definite edge recognising an invalid move. The programmers of this game are incredible. The audio cues just about make this game intiuitive.

How's that Micah? Do we get our forum now? ;)

OK, I gave in....there were just too many games I wanted to play on GameCube that were not available on XBOX. I picked one up at our local Sam's Wholesale Wherehouse for $150. It was a bundle pack that included the GameCube, a memory card, one free game and a strategy guide for that game. A $200 value for $150. Not bad...

Oh and I have a general comment to make about game hardware quality.....the GameCube hardware and design is far inferior to the XBOX. At certain points, I feel like I might accidently break the damn thing...

EDIT: Oh and the XBOX weighs about 3 times as much too. It's built like a damn tank.

I picked it up last night. Been playing it all day. It just happens i need a Heating guy to come in and repair my boiler. ;) That meant a day home to play.

Gameplay is pretty much the same. The putting seems to be easier than 2003. I can't say for sure, but I am tearing the game up. Graphics are great, improved from 2003. The build your own player thing is sort of wierd. All sort of equipement. Sponsorship. More courses. I don't have a Network card for my PS2 so i can't say anything about the online play. Someone else will have to come up with that.

I've been playing TW2004 a lot when I'm not working (which ain't often right now) and I love it, other than not being progressive scan on the GC. The create-a-player feature is outstanding. There is a ton of detail to it. I started off with just a t-shirt and jeans, but was blantantly forced into some snobbish golfing attire so I could get bonus points for my skills. I look like such a tool in my tan khakis and long sleeved maroon sweater. ;)

The create a dude is pretty good. I find it's weird trying to make someone that looks like yourself.

I started with the match play stuff to get some quick cash and build my stats. I had a couple of close matches but never lost any.

I started the Tour play and was something like 38 under through 3 rounds and the next closest dude is very far behind. :(

Overall it's a great game, loads of fun. Best played with a few buddies and a whole lot of beer. :D
