He lived longer than originally diagnosed. His music will be missed.

Zevon, in my opinion, was one of the most creative and wittiest songwriters that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I'm going to hit the stores tomorrow morning and try to find myself a copy of The Wind, something I've been meaning to do for a couple of weeks now.
Dry your eyes, my little friend
Let me take you by the hand
Freddie get ready
Rock steady
When Johnny strikes up the band
Rest in peace, Warren.

The 'Excitable Boy' album is one of my all-time favorites. I love the guy, and it pisses me off that he's dead.
I just put the album on, and 'Johnny Strikes Up The Band' indeed.
Outside of 'Nighttime in the Switching Yard,' I really enjoy every song on this album.
'Accidentally Like a Martyr'; 'Veracruz'; 'Tenderness on the Block'; the aforementioned 'Johnny Strikes up the Band.' Love it.
Thankfully, my polks are crankin' his tunes, and will continue to do so for as long as I'm at their reins.
David Letterman was a very good friend of his, fwiw.

I'm glad that over in Oman I was able to have a couple of pina coladas at Trader Vic's in his honor...
