Thinking of buying a pair of these to upgrade from my crappy computer speakers. Wondering which sub and receiver I should buy to accompany these two front speakers so that the sound quality is what it should be for speakers at this caliber but def nothing too expensive, decently priced. Not interested in completing the whole surround sound set with the center speakers and whatnot.

I purchased a Denon AVR-391 a few months ago and am very happy with it. 75wpc into 8 ohms and 110 wpc into 6 ohms. Plenty of power for my 8Ts with low distortion. I paid 180 bucks for it brand new, but I think they have gone up just a little bit since then. As far as subs go, Amazon has a Polk PSW10 for $99.00. A buddy of mine has one and it does a fine job with his HT system.

The Denon I would def recommend, but NOT the PSW10. It bottoms out if it's pushed at all. I would recommend a Bic F12 which can be had for under $200. I consider it an "over-performer."

The PSW10 is a waste for the M70's...

I found the M70's to hit cleaner and just as low.

Best bang for the buck, PSW505.

This pretty much sums it up well. Don't waste your time with psw10.

I will add that if you end up getting an external amp for m70, I wouldn't waste time with anything under 200w/ch. I have tried my m70s w 100w reveicer, 125w amp and a 200w amp, and the latter is what made the REAL difference.

My 70's are powered by a 200wpc amp stemming from an Onkyo 807. My sub is an Epik Empire. Not sure what "too expensive" is to you.

if you're not interested in completing a home theater you may be able to get more bang for buck looking for stereo receivers. Harman Kardon 3490 (120w x 2) might be a good starting point. Decent deals on factory refurbs can be found on Harman's ebay store. They seem to be selling b/w 170 and 260 recently.

You can get a great Yamaha RX-V671 receiver at a reasonable price. I use a Yamaha RX-V1900 to drive my M70's but that receiver is hard to find now. Used to be you could pick one up for $600 to $700, a great buy when I got mine. I don't bother with a subwoofer since the M70 bass is strong enough without it.
