PSW650 Light Failed

I noticed this problem was already addressed in this forum, but I wanted to let you know that I was having this problem as well. I also wasn't sure if I should piggyback the other thread or start a new one.

I purchased a PSW650 at AmericanTV about 3 weeks ago and had to return it immediately due to a green indicator light that wouldn't. They gladly let me exchange it. I installed the second one and it worked fine until today. The light won't come on anymore - I am using automatic on/off mode so it is a little difficult to tell if the sub is on until you hear that first rumble of bass. I am a proud owner of a pair of RT3's and M3II's. I love Polk speakers so I can't imagine buying a different brand of sub woofer. The PSW650 not only sounds good it is a beautiful piece of "furniture". Please help.

Chris - Welcome to the forum. You are certainly in the right forum.

Have you experienced any difference in the light when in "always on" mode? Does it seem to operate perfectly when always on?

Sometimes my sub will not detect enough signal, to switch out of "off"(red) mode. I also use the "auto" feature.

The M&K has ran 14-15 years *ON*, and has had NO problems. I thought we found out that leaving stuff on actually helps electronics? no?

But electronics dont put off that much energy, I mean if you can afford to own receivers, amps, cd players, powered towers, subwoofers, I think you can afford to leave your sub on. As I believe it costs more to leave your amps on.....

dorokusai, I've tried turning it to always on and still no light. I thought that the automatic mode had failed as well when I didn't see the light anymore. But, I can definitely hear the bass rumble, even with no light, so I know it detected the signal. It's got to be the light. Thanks.

Goodee - So I will take that as it still works ok, alot of bass when you turn it up? Normal is what I am looking for when you turn to "on". If this is true, then yes, probably just a fluke. Polk will fix you.

If you have a multimeter, check your power at that outlet. Make sure it is, roughly, 110-130 v AC. Thats just a personal question, no biggie.

I can't tell any difference other than the light being out. If it wasn't putting out any bass I'd be a little more upset seeing as though this is the second one I've had in 3weeks.

If it's just the light, eff it (imo). You could see if the store that sold it to you could knock you down to an 'open box' or discounted price, since this is your 2nd one that has had the same issue.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but damn... This is the most expensive speaker ($750) I've ever bought and I don't think it's too much to ask that all the parts work no matter how trivial they might be. Personally, I like the light coming on when the thing picks up a signal.

Agree, Goodee, for such a new purchase you should enjoy the light show. My roughly two year old Velodyne still shows me it's status via light notification. I don't think it would be an event of significance, if at this point my lights went out, but my sub has earned that right (I run it, perpetually, in 'auto' mode). Bummer, and I hope you get this worked out.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll get it worked out. I've read quite a bit on this forum since joining a couple of days ago and it appears that everyone is very helpful (users/consumers included).
