I just bought a mm465 set from a friend. My Infiniti j30 won't fit the 6.5 in the front doors. I plan on getting rid of the Bose system thats currently in there. my question is can i just extend the 6.5s with a custom 3/4 MDF spacer or do i have to box the whole speaker behind the door panel.

Just build the "spacer" and install these driver "free air". They are designed to be used free air plus the bass and midrange will sound much better by not being restricted by some unknown volume and tuning frequency of the factoy Bose enclosure.
This also make the installation much easier!! If you have to use MDF for the spacer ring, make sure to seal it to prevent water damage.
