This album is awesome - lots of talent. The sound quality is excellent. Even better than the first cd. This is what good music is all about.

I'll third this opinion. I've had since the release day and been meaning to post about it but just never got around to it. Ahhh the joy of being a procrastinator. :D

6 degrees of Smashing Pumpkins, I think the old APC bass player (Paz or something) left to tour with Corgan's new (IMO awful) band.

Paz did leave APC fot Zwan.

Zwan broke up, and they weren't awful. You're nuts.

Also...there isn't much secret about APC. Goto www.toolarmy.com and you'll learn a lot of stuff.

My question is. What happened to the chick from the first Perfect circle album. Where has she gone.

Demiurge
09-26-2003, 10:47 PM
I just answered that. The 'chick' is Paz Lenchantin.

She joined Zwan. Then quit Zwan. Now Zwan has broken up.

James Iha also left Zwan and joined APC.

Jeordie White Osbourne is from Marilyn Manson, Pre 'Anti-Chirst' Superstar. He also did work on that album, but did not tour with them.

Billy Howardell is Adam Jones' (tool) guitar tech.

Ya, that is the fellow for the ol' Pumpkins.
Actually "twiggy" has been with MM all the way up and to the latest album where during pre-production he went his seperate way. Then he answered an "ad" that PC put out wanting a new bass player. All the hot bass chicks seem to dissapper.
What ever happened to former White Zombie chick? She rocked!!!

So what are these guy's, Country, Rock-a-billy, Hip-Hop/rap, Boy Band?

A little help fellas. If your gonna post a reveiw about a band that is not mainstream, at least give us poor schmoes an idea of what the hell to expect. I don't know jackshit about these guy's and would never buy their album without at least knowing what kind of music they play. A simple "These guys are great!" doesn't tell us squat!

Rant over....sorry!

Frank- APC is hard rock, but not with a lead singer that screeches ala slipknot and others. (god that bothers me) i'm sure if you goto amazon.com you can hear a clip of their stuff.

Zwan was awesome and I didnt know they broke up until you told me, I was waiting for a new album. However, that chick sucked. She was weird and ugly.

Hard Rock - not really.
Modern Rock - it is pretty light.
Lead singer is from Tool.
Don't know who TOOL is - stick to your Country!!!!!!!!!
:D lol

To me, Maynard is the best singer in 'rock music' today. He has such an incredible range.

The only reason I ever came to this board is because I'm a Tool Army member and was invited here by Phuz. I started a thread there about audio equip. upgrades and he answered it suggesting Polk's.

Anywho...

Yeah, Scott...Twiggy never toured with MM though. I was thinking of Berkowitz. :p

I downloaded various songs by these guys. I must say they blow serious chunks. IMO of course...dosnt do anything for me. Pretty cool beats, and guitar rifts though.

I like this one song though! Alotta screaming! Rock on!

Thanks for setting me straight! The "IMO" wasn't good enough? ;)

At least we agree about Tool/ Maynard. I saw them with Tricky a few years ago, and APC open for NiN a few years before that. Both awesome shows of course. I just answer 'Maynard' when I talk about my favorite bands. Aenima is in my top three favorite albums ever.

Since you're up on their news, wasn't he and Trent Reznor going to do a project (Tapeworm?)... any word on the status of that? I haven't actively followed their news for awhile.

Demiurge
09-29-2003, 06:24 PM
I haven't heard anything about that, you may want to ask Phuz.

And...you'll have to excuse my rampant fanatical views on music. :p I sometimes come across as laying down the they 'suck' FACT on people who don't know that I'm coming from a musically theoretical standpoint and not the purely emotional one....

The one that most people come from who listen to music rather than study music.

There are certain things about music that aren't subjective, and others that are.

I don't mean to step on toes here, but bands like Limp Bizkit do suck. They have overproduced music that doesn't translate live for shit. Take away all the fancy equipment, ect...and they blow. They aren't the only band like that. The majority of your mainstream acts are like that, but not all.

I guess if LB kicks you in the ass and makes you happy thats cool, but don't come to me preaching about how fantastic these guys are as musicians. It's a crock of shit.

I think if people try to understand music more, they'd learn to appreciate whats out there to be discovered rather than whats driven into your head day after day.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to explain myself. I rarely get the chance to do that.

Dave,
Will say this

I like music that stretches from nearly classical, to dream theater, to the likes of limp bizkit and korn.

I look at the talent, and the song. Mostly the CD ya know? I actually want to enjoy myself instead of being a movie critic that slams the good and praises the bad. Not saying you do, but I am willing to listen to 'un-talented' artist and 'talented' artist. Dream Theater to me is one of the greatest rock bands of all times. I think people like Kiss, Aerosmith, etc - totally are lame.

Just all my likes and dislikes. I personally feel the RIAA needs to get rid of these 1 hit wonders and put some REAL talent on the air so they would actually sell CD's and not have to worry about copying because the band they signed is mediocre at best.

Yeah, as I said...in terms of LB, you're looking at the emotional side of things, not the musical.

Dream Theatre is a fantastic band, theoretically speaking. Thanks in case to John Petrucci.

You need a good balance of musical theoretics and emotion to make a good album, LB doesn't have that. It's contrived 'angry' music, and I never said there is anything wrong with it. God bless a man who can sucker people into buying his stuff. But, it really gets to me when I hear people saying how talented bands like that are. They aren't that talented, musically. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and even a well trained monkey could play the LB guitar parts. The bass lines are completely generic and everything is tuned down for tone to take over talent.

Vocal tracks are layered many times and just sounds over produced.

I guess I like to judge a band for what they can do live. Their sound doesn't translate well live.

This coming from a person who has seen LB 3 times. Once for KoRn when I was like 17 and 'nu-metal' was, well, new.

I liked LB more them. ' 3 Dollar Bill Yall' was actually on ok album. It wasn't this contrived Rock\Rap crap.

So, I guess what I've been trying to say is don't take crap I say so personally. I'd love to explain myself more, but I'm usually getting attacked by like 3 or 4 people before thats possible and everyone is just trying to 'win' an arguement rather than have an honest discussion.

At which point I just don't listen and will just be an ass like everyone else.

Tapeworm was trent reznor and danny lohner's baby, which featured maynard as well as several other people.

It was temporarily shelved because everyone involved got so busy. It was rumored that several tracks on the "underworld" soundtrack (produced by lohner, featuring maynard and quite a few other folks - good soundtrack) were some of the planned tapeworm releases. Lohner later denied that and said that tapeworm will be released.... someday. Aperantly lohner and reznor (two primary original members/founders of NIN) are now busy working on a new Nine Inch Nails follow up release to 'the fragile.'

BTW, lohner also produced quite a bit of the new APC album - which I think accounts for a lot of its overall tone/sound.

Frank, don't let any of the labels said above scare you. The album is hardly 'rock' - it's pretty mellow and progressive with only a couple of heavy moments.

Oh and while we're throwing out contemporary stuff, I'd like to toss out the names of a couple of my current favs.

Faith No More
Tomahawk
Sublime

Ok ok not quite "current" - but GOOD music, that is different than the norm.

I'd like to hear anyone say they don't like Faith No More's "Evidence" or their rendition of "Easy."

Thanks Phuz, good info. That makes more sense... I have a Lohner remix of Judith from a few years ago that sounds a lot more like NiN than Tool. The track list (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000AYL3Q/qid=1065047546/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/102-2089850-4748932) for Underworld looks pretty good.

Good call on Sublime, their self-titled album is one of my favorites. It's a real shame and loss he's gone.

I go back and forth between the self titled album and 40 oz. to freedom. Both are awesome albums.

The remaining members of sublime and some of their friends tried to make some albumes with a new singer, and even redid some old sublime songs but they are terrible. No chemistry. It's just not the same without Brad.

Just another reason to say no to drugs! ;)
