Which speaker would you get

If price was not a factor which one of these options would you get, use would be 75 music / 25 ht, it will be substituting the rtia7 which i have sold.

Definitive technology mythos sts
Definitive technology mythos st
Polk audio lsim 703
Kef q700

The opinion that i want is truly which one sound better, not based on price, just based on sound. So like i said do not worry about the price which ones in your opinion is the best sounding speakers of the list.

I plan on purchasing in the next couple of weeks so i really appreciate your input

I wouldn't even consider the Mythos.

And having heard all three I'd suggest the LSiM for you although I may personally choose the KEF since I've heard the LSiM's for almost a year and would like to get some more time with KEF again. Sonically, I really believe the LSiM to be on par with KEF i this bracket since they are not the laid back, veiled LSi of the previous series. The KEF Al dome will probably sound a bit more crisp(It's Aluminum and inherently so...), the Midrange about the same but the Bass is crossed and designed very differently so room response should play a big role in that respect.

I'd also take the LSI-Ms over the Mythos. I'm really not as impressed with the Mythos for 'music' as some other members are here? The KEFs I have not heard, but I've liked many of their offerings in the past--except that that metal tweeter is sometimes not as laid back as I like--I'm pretty sure I prefer the Vifa in most of its configurations there, and especially in its most 'recent' one! But that's subjective, of course!

I would go KEF. I love the sound of these speakers. The Polks would be second in that group.

now my room size is about 17 x 17 x 8 height, would the lsim703 this fill the room with good full sound? I do not plan on using a sub.

Was trying to get the best choice for double duty but probably will use only for music and have a paralell system for ht. So lets say music use 100%. The system rotel rc990bx, rotel rb990bx, oppo dv980 as source and pioneer pl100 with shure mx97e cartridge, cables mit exp2 and radioshack (sorry) ic.

I can get the sts and lsim at the same price and the kef q900 at less than 1000 for the pair

I'm going to go against the grain and say all three are a step up from your rti a7's, and you'll be pleased with either one. In the 2k range there's also other great speakers out there. Out of all three and for music only I would go with the 703's.

I can tell you from experience that the 703s will fill a room that size with great sound. They'll do fine without a sub, but you may consider adding one in the future just to flesh-out the lows and get a more impactful, visceral listening experience. They'll do fine in the mean-time however.

What didn't you guys like about the ST's?

The ST Al dome isn't anywhere close to as smooth as the KEF design. I also dislike powered subwoofers in speakers although from a design standpoint, it's better than Polk created with the LSi25 by far. The bass isn't very tight on the ultra low end, as well as the freq sweep rating of 14hz is complete bull****e. It's just not a very exciting speaker....all show no go.
