I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can suggest some good wires and cables that dont cost an arm and a leg. I plan to upgrade my interconnects to monster, but damn they cost alot. :(

I've had great success with Audioquest Sidewinders (1mtr pr is $36). See http://www.audioadvisor.com

Cost is the price to match the correct wires with the level of system you own.

List your system and I'll go step by step what I feel you should use.

I own Sony ES, a Class A integrated and the XA777ES SACD player. I love them, the integrated is super clean and I would put the XA777ES up against any player, SACD or CD under $12,000.00. Now, Sony's base line stuff does not have a good rep, but who's base line stuff does?

In mating with your gear.........

you cant go wrong with Radio Shack FUSION interconnects at 25 bucks a pop. I would pin them up against the Monster Reference series cables in a heart-beat.

Also do a search on "Tributaries." They make very good quality entry level cables, and VERY inexpensive. I think the set I bought for my DVD player was $16 pr. Heavy Gold-plated jacks, thick very well insulated cable. They're also available at Audio Advisor.
