Greetings. I'm glad to join this community. I've googled for an answer to my question, with no luck. So, there it goes:

I have a pair of M-Audio AV40 speakers, and have purchased a Polk Audio PSW125 subwoofer after reading good reviews about it (good performance for a fair price). This setup will be plugged to an USB soundcard (for now), namely a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro. It's a great small soundcard, and works very well with my AV40s.

Though, since I have no receiver to plug the soundcard output into, I guess I'll have to plug a 1/8" splitter into the soundcard, and then a 1/8" to stereo RCA into each end. The stereo RCA outputs will be plugged into the corresponding inputs on the AV40s and the PSW125. The setup will be connected like the picture below:

My questions are: 1) Will this arrangement work? and 2) Will the performance from this setup be poor? (I'm going to replace the USB soundcard for a Firewire Echo Audiofire2 in the near future)

Thanks in advance!

To the admins: Sorry, I noticed I should have posted this thread to the "Subwoofer Hookup & Bass Management" forum. Feel free to move it to that forum.

That will work (its the same setup as page 10 in the owners manual). Performance will be based on how high you manually set the crossover on the sub, and how your room is setup. It should be more than adequate for nearfield and stereo listening from a computer.

That setup looks correct.

@greg2350: I have an Echo Audiofire2 on its way to Brazil. When it arrives, I'll be able to get rid of the cable splitter.
