View Full Version : Just bought CSI3/RTI8's. Will FXI30 be ok for surrounds or should I go FXI3?

Two weeks ago, I bought a pair of RTI70's, the CSI30 center, and FXI30 surrounds since they were all marked down. Well I heard teh new CSI3 center, and it blew away the CSI30. Then I heard the RTI8's, and I ended up getting them too. THe only thing is, I got the FXI30's for $219, and don't want to spend another $130. I haven't heard the FXI3 yet, but could there be that big of a difference? Also, what do you guys think of me going with the CSI3 instead of 4? OK choice for a smaller room?

Wow, I've got to hear the new line. Do you have a sub?

Hmmm, now there's a "Bigshooter" and a "Bigsexy1" on this site.
Congratulations on your purchase. You should be fine with the FXi30s as surrounds. Based on what Polk is saying on their site, the new RTis are voice matched and fit in well with previous RTi lines. Still, I would want to have the front soundstage perfectly matched with the same generation of speakers. Matching the surrounds perfectly aren't as important in my opinion for movie watching.
Where'd you get your speakers? Circuit Citys near me are clueless as to when they'll be available here.

I bought the RTI8's and the CSI3 at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, Nebraska. I enjoyed the new CSI3 over teh CSI30 so much I upgraded the whole front end. They are sellign them for $349 a piece for the RTI8 and $199 for the CSI3. I paid $289 for the RTI70's and $134.99 for the CSI30, but liked the new ones enough to upgrade. I also purchased a PSW404 (or whatever teh 10" sub is called :P ) because I like tight clean bass. Nobody seems to give polk credit for that. I had a down firing 8" Polk sub a while ago, and it sounded great, especially for an apartment. Maybe someday I'll upgrade to an SVS, but not for $300 more. Anyways, I also have a Harmon Kardon AV325 receiver I picked up for $500 that will be running this stuff. Hopefully I'll get 7.1 someday when I have a bigger room, but til then these should suffice :-). Any comments/concerns on this system will be welcome. Since they are so new I have no information on them... I just went on blind faith since I enjoyed the last polks I had. I hve a Best Buy geek roommate who thinks his Synergy series Klipsch beat polk... but all he can say is "Polk sucks..DUDE, you should have bought Klipsch." IMO they cost more and sounded muddier so I'm sticking with what I know.
NFM has telesales, call 402-255-MART and hit 0 for an operator. They will direct you if you want to buy them. Last I checked they had 3 (don't know why 3) black and 4 cherry RTI 8's left, and I didn't check on the RTI10/6's.
Klipsch will sound better to the general population because of one thing. They play about 10db louder than Polk. Easily.
