I am actually considering having Polk speakers and a decent 'setup' for audio put into the car....as I now find myself doing alot of music listening on the road. I don't think I have even been to this section of the forum...sooo, where do you all advise I start.....Polk speakers, amp, CD player. Again, I am clueless.
Also, my new car will have zero room for amps or subs to be put in the truck on anywhere else vs. the typical placement in the dash. Thoughts....

It all depends on how far you want to go.
(1) Do you want something that is just pretty good to listen to. Upgrade the factory deck, change the speakers, add sub, and amps. I would go with MM speakers, they are great for the $, (200 for 6.5 inch components). If you want small amps I would look at Alpine Pdx.
(2) Do you want to try to recreate a two channel home stereo experience in your car? This would involve a signal processor that would let you go active, have Left and Right EQ, and time alignment. Alternatively instead of a processor you could just get the new pioneer p80 which has 16band EQ Left/Right, 3 way active crossover, and time alignment.

I agree with most of the stuff the above post says, however I think the Kenwood Excelon XR series amps are better quality than the alpines. They are also smaller.
