I know we've been down this road before but I'd like everyone's opinion on this. I'm interested in purchasing a setup disc just not sure which one to go with. I've read mixed reviews about both, you know, "X" is better then one in this aspect, but "Z" is better in this aspect. So, I figured I'd go to the board with this one, you know, members that have used them both.

I bought it because it meets all my needs, and was half the price of the Avia.

I own AVIA, VE, and DVE. DVE is the clear winner.

I got DVE from overstock.com for $12.89 shipped.

Avia is better for audio. DVE is better for video. DVE is the better value. DVE has a sub level calibration error.

Doc,

What is the sub level error in DVE? I didn't use DVE to calibrate audio.

EDIT: Never mind, I found you answer in another thread.

Well here is the deal. I ordered the Digital Video Essentials earlier this afternoon. Right know I'm a little more concerned with my picture quality. As far as my audio end, there is room for improvement but as of know I'm extremely pleased with the audio. My main concern at the moment is picture quality. Don't get me wrong, my picture is beautiful but I know it can be improved. Thx. for everyone's reply.

I cannot compare the two just yet but I own the Avia disc. I think it is awesome. I notice a complete difference now in my audio and tv picture. After reading the posts here I ordered the DVE disc from amazon for 17 bucks since the consensus seems to be that the video calibration is better on the DVE disc than on the Avia but I'll be able to compare the two in a few days.

Navigation on DVE sucks ass supreme. Post questions if you get stuck or can't find test patterns, etc.

Not for me using an HTPC DVD player. I have direct access to Titles and Chapters. I did notice that it sucks on a STB player.
