OK, I've got some speaker stands on order and they'll be here in a couple of weeks. So I'll finally have my speakers properly placed. No more sitting on top of old speakers, on top of tables, bookshelves, etc..
I have a neighbor who has a SPL meter and will help me calibrate my speakers. I told him I wanted to wait until I have them on stands. So I'll be giving him a call soon.
My question is how best to calibrate my sub since it's hooked up through the mains (The Polk Way). Since the sub setting on the rec. is set to "Off" I'm not sure how to isolate the sub from the mains for calibration.
I'm guessing that I should turn the sub off while doing the L & R mains. But then how best to disarm the mains while doing the sub? Set the test tone back to L main and disconnect the speaker while turning the sub back on so sound is only coming out of the sub, or what?
Obviously it would be easier if I had the sub cable hooked up. But I really do prefer the sound quality of "The Polk Way" so I figure I should calibrate if in this configuration if I can.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond.
