After a couple of discussions and the information provided in this forum, I am thinking of "downgrading" my main speaker choice from LSi series to the RTi 6 or RTi 38. The only difference I noted in the specs was the low end (hz) response. Does anyone else have information on these 2 choices?

LSi 9s were my first choice but the 4ohm issue and matching to the receiver came on advice of others (here and elsewhere) that the LSi 9s would not work well with the receivers I have chosen.

Planned Set Up
- Onkyo 801 Receiver (2 zone needed)
- RTI 6 or 38 Main (to be placed in entertainment cabinet)
- LSCi Center (over TV - in cabinet)
- PSW 404 Sub (undetermined spot until install)
- In ceiling speakers (rear)
- Polk Atrium - (outdoors)
- Onkyo 501 DVD player (future SACD and Recorder)
- Direct TV Sat
- PS2 & Xbox
- Tivo (future)
- Prismiq Media Player
- Dell 8200 PC

Thanks!

I'd be a bit wary of having even one LSi in a typical reciever setup, but I think (timbre matching issues aside) you could always add another (or multiple) amps using your preouts to run the LSis if it becomes a problem. Better let one of the guys thats tried LSi's and RT's in the same setup comment though.

Are you sure you want your 38's placed in an entertainment cabinet? Placement is critical for main speakers and confining them within a cabinet will, uh, confine them. When I first got my 38's, I hung them on the wall. But once I got stands, moved them a couple of feet from the wall and toed them in, they sounded drastically better.

Yes, unfortunitly they will be confined, due to the Wife Acceptance Factor. Due to this I am letting go the idea for floor speakers, moving to bookshelf style. This actually is a plan as I am getting a home theater built finally and will slowly get her to hear the differance with her style of music and movies and move up to better speakers at some point. :D

Yep. Know what you mean about the WAF. If I had my way, I'd have 2 pair of floorstanding speakers -- one for movies (12" woofers!) and the other for music. Well, maybe a third pair just for jazz.

Dude, have you tried the, 'Don't you want me to be happy?" card yet? It's worth a shot! :D
