What's the word on X-men 2? Any reviews, is it worth the buy?

I haven't seen anything about the DVD; but I saw it in the theatre. Better than the first one IMHO. Awesome special effects and soud be a killer soundtrack.

This is definitely a buy. Incredible movie, better than the 2nd Matrix, and I'm a matrix fan

I have read nothing but good solid reviews. Better than the first in every way. I was iffy about it but it WILL be a buyer. Sounds like a another great movie night.

I remember when it came out many reviewers said it was better than the first one. I've never seen either movie and am only vaguely familiar with the whole X-Men storyline. Can I watch the 2nd movie without having seen the first one without being lost in regards to plots, character development, etc.?

yes you can watch X2 without seeing X1, there are some little things you might miss but it's still a phenomenal movie. X1 was pretty good too though so why dont you just pick up or rent both.

Just picked it up from BB along with Bruce Almighty. One thing I noticed about the both of them are they are both DTS 5.1. That should be a good thing. :D

Try the super slow-mo at 1:40:44 ... hot rear action; who cares if it's blue.

I must say this, this movie was kick ass. Just the opening scene was something to talk about for days. The H/T had a work out last night. I think the neighbors thought I was having a party last night. :D

Watched this tonight. One of my favorite action movies. DD EX track had some nice balance, very enveloping surround without being overcooked. Some decent bass to shake the foundation, nothing terribly low though. If you haven't seen this one yet you are really missing out.
By the way a 7.1 system with DD EX or DTS-ES 6.1 is the only way to fly...

One-handed watching at its best.
Good flic. DTS surround use was excellent and the bass was strong only when DTS thought it should be - a nice change over the recent crop of movies where everything from a pin drop to a door slam shakes the room.
Cer - I thought X2 was 5.1 non-matrix only? I ran mine in forced matrix mode, but it's not advertised as an EX disc.

Doc,
you're right, my receiver auto-sync'ed to DD EX matrix mode, but not DD EX 6.1 discrete mode.
I forgot there was a DTS track because the top menu has a 'languages' setting instead of an 'audio setup' or 'settings' selection, so I figured DD was the only option and just hit play. Still sounded excellent though :D

Just to be clear, there are two DD and three DTS surround modes:
DD 5.1
DD 5.1 EX (matrix)
DTS 5.1
DTS 5.1 ES (matrix)
DTS 6.1 ES Discrete (non matrix, discrete rear channel information)
The EX or ES matrix mode strips certain information already contained in the side surround channels and sends it to the back.
The 6.1 ES Discrete does not strip side surround information; it has a discrete rear channel.
There is no DD equivalent to DTS ES 6.1 Discrete.

Your going to need to copy this down Doc so you can paste it once a day. With many people finally catching up with the 6/7 channel setups they will have to get thier learn on.......;)

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! I am a comic book fan and collector, and although it isn't super faithful, it is fantastic. I cannot wait for the third one....Phoenix/Dark Phoenix comes to mind. :)
