I have a 500watt amp that I would like to use to power a single 10" or 12" sub. Crutchfield says that this is within the RMS range of both the MM120 and the MM100, but would it really play well?

How would the MM120 sound with 500 watts?

Powering the MM100's or the MM120's with a "true 500 Watts" will work just fine. Set the crossover to 80 Hertz and allow 40 hours of playing music at a reasonable level to let the driver's suspension "break-in". Do you plan on building a sealed or bandpass enclosure? If your goal is SPL, then build the bandpass. For a tight, well controlled bass response build the recommended sealed enclosure. We do have these box plans available on our website.
