Does anyone know why crutchfield can't / wont keep a suply of rt-55i's in stock in the maple color?!

It is starting to get to me. The MSN deal is only good for a few more days!

huh? syrup? wha?

here is what crutchfield has told me:

the maple RT55i speakers have been discontinued and we are out of stock on them. We will not be getting any more of them. I wish I had better news there.

The good news is that you will find our great selection of bookshelf speakers on our web site at:

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?c=4&g=37900&s=0

You may also want to check with Polk at 800-377-7655 or on their web site to see if they have any remaining. The web site address is:

http://www.polkaudio.com/polk.html

Now WE all know the 55i's are NOT going to be discontinued. Could someone from polk tell crutchfield to get it right!

could a polk company person check with the shiping / orders department to see if you have any orders from crutchfield for more maple speakers?

please, I'll never badger you again?

EA, actually the 55I are going to be discontinued...As are the whole RT-i line...
Check out this thread...

http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1356

but to Paraphrase...
"Yes the RTi line is being phased out and the new and improved RTi will take it's place. You will probably see the new RTi line late Jan to Feb. Honestly the current RTi line prices are so good that I would suggest taking advantage of the lower prices. I would suggest taking a look a CC or Crutchfield."

Look for the post by Jay M

Ah man so now we are getting new speakers! MAN! Just as I had saved up the cash. When will we get official info about the RTi-x00's? I'd love to know if they are going to look different - new tweter?

The folks at Polk are pretty proud of the tri-lam tweeter it seems, as well they should be. I doubt that the changes will be all that drastic but we shall see.

A guy I talked to a local CC said that they were going with a ribbon Tweeter on the newer RTI line...He also said they were not going to carry the bigger Infinity floor speakers..and that they would be carrying the floor speakers of the LSI line.... We shall see what happens...

Ask the CC guy to spell 'tweeter'.

Well.. this is not your average CC employee... He owns some polks himself.. SRT's I believe... what ever the two piece ones were... I'll admit..I'm not the best on naming the older series. funny thing.. this guy used to work at NASA...he just does this part time..to keep from getting bored..His wife makes well over 6 figures...

So..not every one who works at cc is a moron guys.. wake-up

...I seriously, seriously DOUBT that you are going to see a ribbon in a Polk speaker AND Polk has already said that CC will not carry the LSi line. I'm not saying anything about the guys intelligence but I am saying that his information is inaccurate.

I can never find anything when I'm looking for it...

Somwhere I have a picture of the new line. They have the dome tweeter offset between the two drivers in kind of a THX-ish arrangement.

I didn't think the older line would be replaced, though. Guess times are a-changin'.

No those are the NEW LSi Line.

We are talking about the RT line

TrappedUnder Ice

personaly...I'd find it hard to believe myslef that they would do such a drastic change on the tweeter... make it harder to timber match etc...

but until we actualy find out.. we'll just have to wait and see...

See what happens when I fly off the cuff running on memory!

(I still can't find that thing.)

Are they serious about a ribbon? Those suckers can be harsh!

TheOneRod

Never mind, I just checked. Doesn't sound like ribbons.

That would be a revolutionary change and we have been told that this is just an evolutionary change. New logo, that's probably about it.

If somebody finds the spell check button in here press it for me. Remember - Einstein forgot to wear his pants occasionally.

Just got back from good guys.

The CS400i is NOT being replaced. So I'm betting they will not change at all. It would mess with the timbre matching.

Now just have to find 55i in maple in stock somewhere

The maple is well worth the effort. I almost settled on Black Ash for my RT25i's, but decided to ride out the wait for maple. Just picked 'em up Wednesday and WOW.. For the price range the RT's are in, it is absolutely astonishing.
