sub box

i got my mm2124 and am going to make a box for it.

it recomends using a .88 cubic ft box. isnt that kind of small?

I calculated a box with internal size, height = 12.5", width = 12.5", and depth = 9.75" to be equal to .88 cubic ft. Is .88 the best size? and what change would be made to the sound if its slightly smaller or larger?

and im planning on doing the setup with the sub facing up with the 6x9's in the back of my civic.

these subs were designed to be put in small spaces
.88 is right
theyd be better off facing down or facing the rear of the car than up
bass has to reflect before it can be heard, so facing up isnt a great idea, but can be done
as far as bigger or smaller
if the box is too small then the low bass frequencies will suffer
if its too big, then the efficency(which isnt too great for the momos anyway) and punch will be compromised
the sound will be looser, and it could blow you could blow out your subs easier

up?? well not what I would do.. in that case you need to have it reflecting off of your rear window if you have one of the older civic hatchbacks.. if you have a newer one... find another design..

How much do you use your trunk??? if you dont use it at all.. make a REALLLY flat box that lays on the floor of your trunk to face up.. even on hinges if you have a tire.. a lot of people seem to put plexiglass over these both for protection and to redirect the sound-- basically make a new floor.. you can mount your amp in it as well :D
