I just purchased a Hitachi 65T500 HDTV and I am looking for a good speaker system to hook up to it. I will most likely purchase the Yamaha HTR-5650 receiver and I was originally going to go with the Polk RM-7200 series. It seems for a few dollars more I can put together the following:

2 Front RTi8's

1 Center CSi3

2 Rear RTi6's

1 PSW404 Subwoofer

I would say I will use the system for 70% Home Theater and 30% music (Rock, Classical). Does anyone have any idea if this will sound good? I have been trying different local stores and it seems I can't find one with all the speakers I want. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

That would be a great setup. Go for it.

Before you buy new,I would lurk here for awhile you might find what your looking for and if your looking to buy right now you might want to post a WTB ad in the flea market.Good luck!;)

id get everything except the subwoofer, polk subs arent really the best around. look at velodyne, they are nice, and usualy sold in the same places polk is....at least around here they are.

Also look for closeout deals on last year's RTi line.

Circuit City still has RTi 70/100/150 in some locations.

Crutchfield has CSi 30 for $150, RTi 38 and FXi 30 for $250/pr

I would change the csi3 to a csi5 that would better match the other speakers for the front if seperate speakers are your choice. If I was to get a box set I would look at the RM7600 before the RM7200 because of the better speakers offered I think the sub in the 7600 set is now the new 505 (12") which has had good spec. reviews on this forum, I have not seen it myself but the reviews here have been favorable none the less. The room size and lay-out will have the biggest effect on speaker performance.

Good luck

Nothing wrong with you setting up your own system.

I'll second that on velodyne. I'm in serious love with my cht-8.
