I have a set of RTA11TL's that are well under utilized and take up a bit of room area. I love the sound of them and I hate to get rid of them but bookshelf speakers might better suit my needs at this time.
Are there any opinions on what bookshelf speakers may be a worthy replacement? Should I consider a set of book shelf speakers and a sub? How do the new Polks compare?

Welcome to the forum.
If you're selling the RTA's, let's talk because I may be interested. If you want to stick with Polk (of course you do), then I would suggest looking at the LSi 9's. As for a sub, I'll have to let some of these "bass heads" answer that question. Do you want this for 2 channel and/or HT?

I haven't decided if I would sell them yet. I fear that I would be dissapointed with what I could get for them and also end up with inferior sound quality from a book shelf system.
I have a 2 channel system driven by a 95 Watt Denon receiver (DRA 925).

Stan,
That was IF you decided to sell them.
What is their condition and what color are they?
FWIW, from the Bluebook.

Since we are both in the Great State of Maryland this could be a easy deal, no shipping, etc.
Will the Denon drive a 4ohm load, if not you'll need a new receiver to drive the LSi's.

Thanks for the info. My Polks are black finish and I consider them to be in Very Good to Excellent condition (subjective as it may be).
As far as drive capability the Denon receiver, that should not be a problem. If I recall, the spec. says that it can drive a 1 or 2 ohm load.
I'll think some more about selling them.

You are welcome.
I'm interested if you decide to sell.

Nuts, It turns out that Denon recommends down to 6 ohms for my reciever. The <2 ohm capability is to account for the dynamic impedance properties of the speakers through the full audio frequency spectrum. Therefore, looks like the LSi9's are out.
Any other suggestions? I have always liked Polk's inovative designs (and sound) and the fact that they are based in Baltimore, but am willing to consider others.

Have you looked at the RTi38's? You will need a sub, of course.

I was thinking about those but was wondering about the RTi6 as well. Is the RTi6 replacing the RTi38? Or is the RTi6 higher or lower on the speaker food chain?

I don't know which one is higher or lower or if the RTi6 is a replacement. They appear on paper to be a close match, perhaps a call to Polk would help clear up your questions. Doro uses the RTi38's as fronts in his HT set up, sound pretty good to me. Perhaps you can talk to him about them.

The 6 is the direct replacement of the 38. Same level on the Polk food chain.
Cheers,
Russ
