Defense wins games...PERIOD!

The Ravens did it in 2000.

Trey, enjoy this! Your boys are looking solid! I'm with the Panthers on February 1st.

Thanks, I think we will...

But Fox is gonna have to learn to not be so conservative...it almost lost him the game...

We had a very conservative QB that second half of the year by the name of Trent Dilfer. He did just enough to get us by and the defense did the rest.

Stick with them and they'll bring home the prize. They're looking good!

I liked the Colts, until I saw the pathetic performance of Manning. He is like a lamp post after the ball is hiked, he barely moves....just stands there like a little "I am afraid to run" puta...and then cries when he threw an interception. He had multiple opportunities to run a few yards, but took the sack, or threw poorly instead.

Can you say choked?

The Patriots did a fine job of shutting them down. It should be a great SB.

I can NOT believe no one saw how BAD of a team the Colts really were. I mean if you had seen any of their games from the regular season, their way of doing things was........if you dont have a defense. Were gonna kick your tail! Now if you have a defense, please dont tackle our quarter back because he is a friggin WEAKLING, CHICKEN, CRY BABBY!

I swear! At one point in that game, I thought he was going to cry! Give me a break!

Right, Manning is a weakling. Kid can throw the ball and I don't think he's missed a start in his career. He's a tough SOB, whether you want to admit it or not. The real problem for the Colts yesterday was the complete blanket job the Patriots did on the Indy receivers. When there is nowhere to throw the ball, the line will break down, and you will give up sacks. Credit the Pats D for making Manning look bad. He is by far the best QB in the game today.

Speaking of giving credit to the defense, the Panthers did a great job yesterday. The Eagles miserable offense did good to get 3. I can't believe they got as far as they did. With the talent this year's team had, there was no way they should have been the number one seed in the NFC. Andy Reid did a great job getting them into the position they were in, but talent won out in the end.

As far as the Super Bowl goes, we definitely got two good defensive teams with so-so offenses. I give the Patriots the slight edge overall. They've got a better secondary than Carolina and of course a bigger playmaker at QB. I'll take the Pats in close one. In Vegas, I'd take the Panthers+7. Panthers have a good chance at the upset, especially if they can pull off a big play on special teams.

Against the Pats Manning had nowhere near the swagger he showed in the first two playoff games. I think the Pats just befuddled him...

I was ready to back the Pats in the SuperBowl, but decided to do a little research... Based on their points differential performances against a common opponent, the Texans, I predict the final score will be.......

Panthers 4 - Pats 3...

Game could be just about that exciting...

I agree it isn't what Manning didn't do, it is what the Patriots did do. The kid throws one of the best touch passes I've seen in a while. Gambling is illegal but if I were to bet I would take the Panthers and the points but take Brady and the Pats to win the game. When 2 teams are comparative defensively you have to look at hte O and Superbowl experiance. Pats win both. Go AFC!Just MY Opinion I'm Not Married To It.

As for the Eagles and McSad . I question how bad he was injured. I think the ribbs hurt him a little moe when he saw the ass kicking was inevitable. They were very lucky to get past the Peckers. They got what they deserved. Philadelphia"City of brothers on drugs". Did you know there is a magistrates court in the basement of Veterans stadium? Says alot for their fans doesn't? As a Steeler fan I can't believe I'm about to say this but I think Phili is actualy dirtier than Cleveland.

Yall have gotta be Colt fans.

The fact of the matter is. If the colts played anyone with a defense they were destined to lose. Why? Manning is a chicken, we've proven that EVERYTIME we have played the Colts. Everytime you get close to him or touch he calls for a pentalty, whines, you name it. If you start playing bad because people are knocking you down you shouldn't be playing football.

BTW - Colts had no defense, and they most definetely didnt have an offense that could handle a defense.

The reason why they beat Kansas City and Denver is because they both had no defense. They both had an offense that couldnt take defenses, and they both didnt have one. It works out in the end.

Now when you take the Pats, they have a defense. It all makes sense now.

Good defense usually always wins. The Pats and the Panthers are both solid on defense. Saw a couple of great hits by their defenses yesterday. If you go by stats McNabb and Manning had bad days but what I saw was outstanding defense. Even when they had time which was not often the secondaries covered the wide receivers like a blanket. I think the Super Bowl will be low scoring but still be entertaing, look for this one to be decided by a field goal possibly in overtime. Patriots 17 Panthers 14

THE EAGLES SUCK!!!

Time for some serious rethinking in that club, from the top down. Three NFC Championship losses in a row? What a fucking joke!

I think the SB will be a good game. The Pats looked good, but so did Carolina.

It'll be close... I ain't bettin' it!

nothing wrong with you loving your team man, but you're making some mighty big claims. i did the same thing so you see how it feels and it's obvious you don't like it. make a prediction and just sit on it. be all overjoyed when they win.

i do think carolina's defense is much more overrated than ne's. you don't go 1-15 with essentially the same team and win the superbowl because you have some fantastic team all of a sudden. they have a lot to prove and a superbowl win will prove a lot, but hey, take it in stride my friend. you don't want to eat any crow.

i think you have a much harder game if you would have played gb, but they gave the game to philly 8 times in one game. you didn't play a good team at all on sunday. if any team is severely overrated it's philly.

Much respected views

Carolina has came a LONG way in 2 years.

Here is what I saw during the Colt game...

Other than the fact Manning and the Colts were severely overly praised and WAY over-rated. Was more along with NE, although they played a great game --- Brady threw some passes that wont go so well with Carolinas defense (instead of being swatted, will be intercepted). Another thing I saw was their ability to not stop the run, or their ability to not run. I just dont see it happening. NE is a great team, and so is Carolina. Carolina got here fair and square. Although we pounded the crap out of the Eagles, I think we proved ourselves more than worthy against the rams. Just my views, Charlotte was partying through the night, and all day today...lmao

PS: Eagles deserved every bit of the pounding after all the trash they talked in the daily papers about Charlotte

I couldn't agree more. Btw, did you hear the announcers making every excuse in the book for him? Pathetic political correctness, shame on them.

"...but I think Phili is actualy dirtier than Cleveland."

You haven't been to Cleveland in awhile, have you? The place sparkles and is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so be careful what you say about that fine city or the R&R gods will cause your gear to suddenly stop working.

I'd prefer, were I to put together an NFL roster starting with a quarterback ... Brady, Favre, McNair, and possibly Vick (based on his outrageous physical abilities). The first three just have the smarts and toughness that I like from the position; watching Manning cry like a baby after throwing embarrassing interceptions was truly dreadful, he's just not mentally where he needs to be for my liking. But who knows, perhaps Peyton can develop the toughness and leadership some day.

First off where were any of you Manning bashers the last two weeks? Brady Farve Mcnair? Go look at the stats. He had a bad game against a good team that’s the bottom line. The fact is defense wins championships that’s why with 7 points Ill take the cats. Oh yea and Im not even a colts fan.

No doubt, look at the past superbowl winners and which side of the ball was better:

GB-Offense
Den-Offense
Den-Offense
Balt-Defense
Stl-Offense
Pats-Defense
Bucs-Defense

3 defenses and 4 offenses... 49rs? Offense... Cowboys? Offense... Redskins? Offense... Giants? Defense...

All of these teams with the exception of Bucs and Baltimore were very balanced, but Offense seems to win more these days than D.

Oh, and Sid, check out weak 15 Den vs. Indy and Denvers D-stats for the year... They had a defense

That said, I'll take the pats by 3

The defense card is played cause its true. Did you see the KC game. The defense coach got canned after that game why cause they will never win a championship if the other team scores every damn time. Look at St Louis the year they won it they were known as the geatest show on turf for thier offense but it took a last second defensive play to win the game. If the other team doesnt score then you win thats a fact.

Are you insane 49er when they were good were not only known for their offense look at these name Brayant Young Pro Bowl Danna Stubblefield Pro Bowl Ken Norton Pro Bowl Eric Davis Pro Bowl Dion Sanders Pro Bowl Merton Hanks Pro Bowl Charles Haily. Dallas had the same ratio of players look it up dont guess. Offense makes the paper wins fan support. Deffense brings the ring.

The NFL announced today that for financial reasons, they had to eliminate one team from the league. So they've decided to combine the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into one team, therefore saving jobs. They will be known as the TAMPACKS. Unfortunately, they're only good for one period and have no second string.

You used the nineties niners team, check out the eighties. YOu have Ronnie Lott and that's it. As for Dallas, their offense caused the other team to go one dimensional and helped the stats. Besides, other than Deion and Lott, who is a HOF guy from either the comboys or niners teams? Stubblefield, not really, Norton? No

On offense: Emmit, Rice, Montana, (Those three are brought up in arguments as best ever for their position) Possibles: Taylor, Irvin, Novachek, Johnson, Craig, Young, etc...

I never said they didn't have defense, they just weren't known as defensive standout teams, but rather known as offensively oriented teams.

You missed making the argument that GB was balanced as well. #1O and #1D one of their two SB trips, close to that on the other.

all you need is a decent defense. you don't need a great defense, but that helps. without any defense you will indeed lose, most likely. the problem though, is that you need an offense that can put up points as well. indy had no defense and they still made a run in that game. manning made plenty of mistakes, but he's a fantastic qb as well. you can't put the loss entirely on manning, that's moronic.

I'm not putting the loss on Manning. Without a doubt the entire team sucks. No question....lmao

Manning on the other hand, I've seen a couple of his games, and he does not impress me at all...

Now, Offense is important, but Defense wins game. Its the great defenses that shut down the great offenses.

Rush Limbaugh
01-20-2004, 06:11 PM

Vr3MxStyler2k3
01-20-2004, 06:13 PM
He just dosnt, its just his attitude and everything about him. He's to scared to run, he can't throw under pressure most of the time. Yes, he can throw, yes when all is well, nothing going wrong. He can throw. However when he sits there and almost starts crying off the field because things arnt going his way.....it just shows you things. As I said before, if you cant take the hit, you shouldnt be playing football.

Rush Limbaugh

Any QB can look great if he has the time to hang out in the pocket, but the true test is what they do under pressure. Manning can't handle the pressure and if he makes it to the HOF, shame on the NFL. Farve on the other hand is a class act and no doubt, deserves to go. McSad will end up there too, but we all know it won't be because of talent.

Whats this crap about Hall of Fame do you have to make it in the hall of fame to be the best at your position that year.

Thats my point saying that offense is how you make it in the paper defense is how you win the game.

Ohh yea Tim Mcdonald was their other saftey that was in the Probowl. Wow look almost their whole starting defense was in the Pro Bowl maybe their defense was that damn good.
