I dismantled my home theater setup about 7 months ago, so I only listen in stereo these days. But, the 5.1 mix on this disc is very nice indeed!!

I am fortunate to be able to listen to music at work. Between the time I spend listening to music at work and home, I probably listen to music between 60-70 hours a week. I'm enjoying the bachelor life right now while I can...

Neil Young; Broken Arrow.
Someone who likes thier Neil Young, all good choices took me a while to warm up to Fork In The Road but enjoy it after several listens Neil Young Is the wifes and my favorite artist I would say my favorite Neil Young Is, After The Gold Rush, Tonights the Night, Zuma, On The Beach, Neil with Crazy Horse I would say Ragged Glory, then Rust Never Sleeps, The Rust Never Sleeps Dvd pretty much is viewed once a month in our Household. I met Neil at the Horde Festival at the Pine Knob Ski Resort in Michigan between shows he was showing off his Train set he set up at the festival he bought lionel train company when they were going under it was quite the set up he then did an acoustic set on the smaller stage with the screaming Chettah Wheelies. Neil is the Man. listening to Roy Buchanon Hot Wires

Hard to think of a favorite Neil album's. I'll give it a try though. Rust Never Sleeps. Zuma, Everybody Know This Is Nowhere, Sleeps With Angels, Broken Arrow. Harvest Moon, CSNY 4 Way Street, i could go on and on. He's got an album for every mood i'm in. I've seen him about 8 or 9 timed. Whenever he comes i go. Rust tour was the best i seen. Farm Aid was cool except for the gougeing on food and drink prices. Glad to see other Fans. Now playing one of my other favorite artists Tom Waits; Heart of Saterday Night.

With the recent layoffs at my company, we are down to 2 people in my department to do 3 jobs on 3rd shift...
And tonight my co-worker called in sick leaving me to do it all, so I'll be busy and won't be able to listen to music very much...
But when I can I'll be listening to the Electric Blues channel I discovered last night, I enjoyed it a lot...

My company laid off 385 workers in August last year, and another 130 recently. Right now my job is safe, but if they were to lay off another couple hundred it might affect me. We are supposed to get more work later this year, and they say they will be calling back some of those that were already laid off. I hope that is the case for everyone involved...

No kiddin'
I'm ready to fight
I've been lookin' for my baby all night
If I get her in my sight
Boom boom! Right here! Out go the lights!
No kiddin'
I'm ready to go
When I find her boy don't you know
If I get her in my sights
Boom boom! What is it? Out go the lights!
I thought I treat my baby fair
I just found out she don't want me here
If I get her in my sight
Boom boom! Come on! Out go the lights
-solo-
I never felt this mad before
When I just found out she don't want me no more
If I get her in my sight
Boom boom! Come on! Out go the lights!
No kiddin'
I'm ready to fight
I've been lookin' for my baby all night
If I get her in my sight
Boom boom! One more! Out go the lights!

No that is not a bad price. It is $13.99 at Wal-Mart. Part of what kept me from already purchasing it there was the fact that most of the songs are on the 2 disc special edition "Essential Paul Simon" that I already own. But for $2 I couldn't pass it up as there are live versions of "The Sounds Of Silence" and "The Boxer", and some others that are not on "The Essential". IMO Paul Simon is right up there with the likes of Bob Dylan as one of the greatest songwriters of his (or any for that matter) generation...

I used to be anti rap, and for the most part I still am but there is some that is actually enjoyable to listen to at least to some degree. I have also noticed that reggae, country, and some of the r&b crossed with rap is actually recorded and mastered well so that it sounds really good on my system. Most rap is C-rap in my opinion, and the kind of people that like to listen to it really destroy it with the underpowered over driven speakers on the worst system ever. These boom boom kids rolling down the street with the vibrating and rattling trunks are the worst. I want to tell them that they think they are so cool, but they have such crappy systems and such crappy calibrations that they look like fools to the world.
It sounds like your neighbor falls into that category of rap listening. They want it to sound like rattling distortion and crackling speakers about to split open just like my eardrums.

Yeah, my neighbor's son thinks his little ghetto box sounds good with "superbass" on and the system cranked up to the point of about 25% distortion. I normally keep my opinions about other peoples music to myself, but this gets tiring to listen to after awhile. Good thing he only comes home from college for the weekend a couple times a month...
I hear you on those kids that go down the street with the trunks rattling in their cars, it drives me nuts. I have to laugh when I see/hear that sometimes, especially the ones that put those big mufflers on their cars that are nearly dragging the pavement, and they think they have quite the hot rod. LOL...
Rick88
02-04-2012, 07:00 PM
Also, I get lots of chuckles when I see those kids advertising their "systems" on Craigslist for sale. All they want to say in their descriptions is how LOUD the system goes, never anything about sound QUALITY, like they'd know good sound quality if they heard it...
And many of them don't even know how to spell stereo. I see it spelled "stero" or "sterio" all the time, it cracks me up...

There's good and bad of every genre of music. As we get more experienced we can move beyond sipping gin and juice. Barboncourt rum on ice is much better for sipping.
Rap by definition is not music, it's spoken word mixed and sampled with bits of music samples. There are rap tracks, but not rap music. But funnily enough two people made their own language, JRR Tolkien and snoopdog.

I recommend the non-remixed by George Martin, but mixed and produced by George Martin mix. The remixed Rubber Soul has completely the wrong tones for voices and instruments. It was mixed on a modern day (non-tube based) mixing console and sounds completely wrong. Actually, I prefer the U.S. version of the album (or Capitol version). The track list is better and as stated before is mixed with better tones.
And yes, this album is essential to your collection. Get the Capitol boxed set Volume 2. That's the best one to have, IMO.
