What am I listening to? I can't hear a darned thing over the neighbor's lawnmower, the other neighbor's weed-eater, and our own freakin' noisy dishwasher.

Yes, this too will pass. And someday that darned dishwasher will die and give us a good excuse to get a quieter one! As for the neighbors, well...

I like it. A lot. But then I knew I would! Reminds me of "Chester and Lester" (Atkins and Les Paul), with a country twang. Excellent stuff, and a nice recording -- consistent with Mark Knopfler.
Next up: Lee Ritenour and Larry Carlton - "Larry & Lee". I've really been enjoying Larry Carlton's stuff. Hadn't listened to much of it before.

I hope to be listening to a Vinyl Copy of Year of the Cat myself in the next day or two ordered it from Georges Vinyl. I Love Year Of The Cat
I love that album too. I can't decide which I like better, Year Of The Cat or Time Passages. I am happy to have both in my collection though (on vinyl)...

Just ordered that one today. One of those that I never got around to buying back in the day -- all my friends had it so I didn't need to at the time! Now I want to hear it, and I don't have it... Soon!

First album played on New Old Receiver Lafayette 5555.
Sounds nice. Not sure as nice as the NAD 3080.
Got the Lafayette for $6 at Goodwill and just gave it a good deoxit cleaning. All pots, switches, jacks, speaker contacts, fuse etc.
So it is gonna work till I clean the NAD, next.

Without listening to it all over again to grade recordings...
For smooth, upbeat kinda jazzy stuff I like Acoustic Alchemy (Back on the Case, Against The Grain..). For softer, nylon string type stuff, Earl Klugh was great (Heart Strings, Soda Fountain Shuffle). Fancy fingerpicking with a little slide thrown in, they don't get much better than Leo Kottke. A little more off the wall, faster stuff, Larry Coryell, or the "Supertrio" of John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola and Paco DeLucia. A lot depends on what you like.
I doubt that Chet Atkins ever did anything I wouldn't like... And of course, there are tons more -- Craig Chaquico (Starship), Michael Hedges... on and on. And that's all stuff from an old fart, not even taking into account anything from this century.

While shopping at Walmart yesterday, I noticed they had re-stocked the $5 CD bin, so I took some time to look through it. It is somewhat of a pain in the **s, but you can find some real gems, making it worth the trouble...
I found a couple of old favorites, including this one that I have on vinyl already, but it is nice to have the CD now as well:

Rick theres a way around that hassel get you a empty shopping cart park right next to that $5 bin and start sorting and keep putting the ones I have no intrest in, in the main part of the cart. I put the ones I want in the kiddie seat section, I have got a lot of good CD's out of that $5 bin at walmart. The wife rolls her eyes at me and works her way over to the womens clothes department, I couldnt be happier sorting through that bin.
My Vinyl Shipment arrived today listening to Al Stewart- Year Of The Cat, and yes Time Passages is also good hard to decide the better between the two:cool: Happy Listening!!!
