Swapped a cartridge out for a friend today on my old turntable. What to test with? How about some early Synthpop when Gary debuted under his own name after the release of Replicas under Tubeway Army. I always thought he was more synthrock at times.

I've been a bit under the weather so it was a good week to clean some old vinyl. My collection is a mix of past ownership including my Mom, Dad, Aunt and Uncle's old records from when they were much younger. I've been listening to the Animals, Iron Butterfly, the Doors, Freddie King (Leon Russel production) lots more.

But then I found an unopened still sealed looks old as dirt album. I almost dont want to open it! But of course I have to. I looked up the date and it's only from 1994, and with an awful review. But it looks cool anyway.

So in a minute I will be listening to "The Night of the Cookers, Live at Club La Marchal with Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, James Spaulding, Harold Mabern Jr, Larry Ridley, Pete La Roca Big Black, Volume 1 from Blue Note Records (finest in jazz since 1939 so it says),

Further correction on my album find, it's from 1965! I had this thing unopened from 3 years before I was born. Never before played on any system, and it's first play on Easter Sunday in glorious 2 channel Sda trumpeting nirvana!

Happy freaking Easter!

I'm sure it was my dads album. He did things like that back then. In 1965 he also bought an all mahogany Harmony h165 guitar, strummed it once and put it in the closet. I found it, and have been borrowing it ever since.

In the meantime if you want to listen to shows from Live Music Archive you have to get the URL for the stream from the arhcive.org webpage and tune the Squeezebox in to it from the Web Interface (LMS or mysqueezebox.com).

About the only thing you won't see me play is classical or rap...
