Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Carver Pro power amps, in particular the ZR series ?

Came close to getting one with the 8th nerve mods. Got a pair of Totem Staffs instead. Dont regret that decision, but I hear A LOT of good things about these amps with mods...

Send them an E-mail asking for the 1600 ZR. While its not listed on their site, they do have it *last time I checked*...and at a VERY good price..

Yep ... This seems to have audio-snobs in a real huff ... lol ... It ain't pretty but then pretty is as pretty sounds ... or at least IMHO ...

I dont know off hand, I do know their price is cheaper than that auction... by about 100 bucks or more.

It would seem ?! that although the technology might be a little rough around the edges still and the interface to other equipment a little different, that for those wanting decent no frills amps this may be a direction worth pursuing especially in HT if not pure 2 channel.

I have two of the PT-1250's. Very clean powerful amps! One fellow who used to be on the forum used four of them on a pair of SRS-SDA 1.2's. I'm sold on them.

What pre-amp are you feeding them with and does it have XLR outs or did you use a cable to convert to XLR in on the Carver ?

I own 2 of these units. They are tremendous, and certainly unequalled for the price stock. Modified, they beat almost anything in existence. You can't go wrong. You can read my review on both AudioAsylum and AudioCircle.

Are you referring to the mods by 8th Nerve ?

What do these mods entail and what do they cost ?

Do you have any experience with Sunfire Amps ? How would you compare/contrast them ?
